Seroquel irritation? why?

Posted by SheilaC on January 18, 2010, at 11:12:42

Does anyone know why Seroquel would cause morning irritation?

I love it to sleep, but the next day I am irritable.

I don't have the irritability when I take Effexor or Pristiq and Seroquel.

Is there some sort of interruption with my brain chemicals on Seroquel alone?

Is the Seroquel depleting something?

Sounds like a question for your doctor or pharmacist. I am interested to know the answer.

Sheila, I don't know. I found seroquel intolerable. Extreme agitation and no sleep. (I wish I could remember the dose.) That's atypical, I think. You seem to have a real good sense of what meds do to you. Definitely a question for your doc and babble.

What is your sleeping dose?

I take around 25 - 50 mg at night for sleep.

wish I could remember the dose I was given--for depression & anxiety, not sleep. Your basic, wild animal trapped in a frozen human body sensation--while wanting to remove my skin. Maybe my dose was much higher? Still, I would think my experience could be filed under irritable.

Still tweaking the sleep thing? Otherwise, alright?

I felt so uncomfortable, so creepy-crawly, so agitated that all I could do was sit still with my arms across my chest and knees up and try not to move. Nonsensical, of course, and terrifying.

How are the mornings? Did you get any useful info about seroquel?

(I think my previous contributions were distracting and unhelpful---apologies.)

The irritation may be from discontinuing the other two meds, and not from the seroquel.

I really don't know. I am off all meds (except evening klonopin) and the Seroquel just makes me irritable the next morning.

My guess is that it effects some chemical in the brain and if/when I take Effexor or Pristiq it gets balanced out (the irritation doesn't happen).

Who knows.

Right now I am trying to find and ADD med that works. Vyvanse lasted tooooo long. Adderall works except it makes me irritable. Again, I'm guessing Adderall effects some chemical in the brain that is out of balance due to the Adderall.

Adderall works great for the ADD, but I can't be irritable to everyone I come in contact with.

This seems simple. I am wondering if I have to add in another med to counter the Adderall irritation. Don't really know.

Interesting though - when I take the Adderall, I sleep like a baby and don't have to take the Seroquel.

Sheila, sounds like you are really close to finding an effective treatment!

Hmmm. So irritation on adderall remains even w/ the klonopin? Vayaanse too long acting. Ritalin experience?

(I did not find strattera effective for add at all, fyi.)

Thanks for posting--I'm really curious what your optimal treatment will be.

best to you,
