Bad Dreams (Lithium, Lamictal, or Deplin)?

Posted by JayBTV2 on December 15, 2009, at 9:04:30

Hello,

I started a new "cocktail" last Thursday. The last few nights I've had pretty bad dreams prior to waking up in the morning. I'm only taking 25mg of Lamictal and used to take 200mg w/o problems like this so I'm assuming that's not the culprit.

So I guess it's either the 900mg of Lithium(ER) or the Deplin. Some searching here indicated Deplin can cause bad dreams.

Has anyone experienced bad/vivid dreams on Lithium or Deplin? Will they pass?

I also take Seroquel and Klonopin but I've taken those for months without these problems....

Thanks for any insight,

-Jay

Hi Jay.

I had vivid, often violent dreams while taking Deplin. As I recall, the phenomenon was dosage dependent, so you might want to try reducing it.

Yea I was kinda thinkin' it was the Deplin - oh well had high hopes for it. Perhaps I'll try splitting the tabs in half.

I see my doc in a week so hopefully I can tough it out until then and see if they wane....

Just frustrating waking up in a bad mood due to negative (vivid) dreams....

<sigh>

But thanks for the reply - you always post insightful stuff Scott,

-Jay

I took Deplin for two weeks and lamictal. Didn't have vivid dreams. Any possibility could be the lithium? Phillipa
