Seeing doc...

Posted by SheilaC on December 7, 2009, at 16:34:39

I finally got an appt to see my psych nurse tomorrow. Who knows when I will get to actually talk to the doc about his take on things.

Not really sure what directions to go in.

I hear such great things about Parnate, but don't like having to worry about interactions.

Possibly very low dose Parnate? Or low dose Depokate or even low dose Lithium - which I have also been avoiding.

I've already ruined my bladder with 20 years of SSRIs, I am afraid of ruining my kidneys with Dep or Lith. Or being rushed to the hospital because I had a piece of pizza and a glass of wine (parnate).

This should be so much easier.

Is this your first time seeing this doctor?

I'm in a similar situation I think (IE looking for a new med). And I'm also very tempted to try Parnate.

Only thing is I'm seeing a brand new pDoc who based on a few things on his website seems to be semi-conservative med wise. I'm kinda doubting he'll let me try Parnate first off even though I've been on almost everything else over the past ten years.

Either way good luck w/ your situation!

What do you think your doc is going to start you off with? Or are you taking something now?

The dietary interactions aren't that hard to follow. You won't die from a slice of pizza, because, for one thing, pizza uses mozzerella cheese, which is fine. It's not aged. It's not that big a deal to avoid aged foods. How often do you have salami or parmesan cheese anyway? Also, white wine is fine in moderation. You just have to avoid tap beers and most red wines. It's really not that hard.
