SNRI drugs...

Posted by SheilaC on November 19, 2009, at 12:35:16

I cannot take SSRIs. But I seem to do pretty good with depression when I take SNRIs.

Here's the issues:

Cymbalta made me feel flat, no feelings, no personality, nothing. Felt dead inside.

Pristiq helps the depression and anxiety, but gives me terrible stomach pains and gas, like IBS. Also, no sex drive.

I would like to stick it out on the Pristiq with the hopes that the noisey gasy stomach pains and lack of sex drive will go away in time.

Has anyone had experience with this? Do these side effects go away? How long do you wait it out to see?

Which ones? Since you have named Cymbalta and Pristiq, I guess that leaves Effexor and perhaps Anafranil. If you did try Effexor, why did you not continue with it?

I tolerated cymbalta to 60mg which was good. If the pristiq is working for depression I'd stick with that. Phillipa

I have no experience Sheila, but how about treating the gas/stomach thing with an OTC product. I know it's a sucky idea to treat side effects with other drugs but what can one do?

Wellbutrin for the sex drive? Maybe...

I hope these side effects do go away with time but if not try and manage them with something because it's rare to find a drug that actually works.

The sex effects did not go away for me, but Levitra and Viagra help a lot.
