Gnawing emptiness.

Posted by Phidippus on November 13, 2009, at 16:38:56

After a grueling year of mood issues, ocd, anxiety and seizures I have finally stabilized on a combo that's a little bit of everything. Unfortunately, my OCD is permanently turned on and my mind is exhausted. I am plagued by persistent feelings of emptiness and constant depersonalization. This void seems to be driving what's left of my OCD. Its as if my mind can't cope with the nothing I feel. What do I do?

what, technically and experientially, is "depersonalization". what causes it and how does one know when one has it? just curious.

Depersonalization is the uncomfortable feeling you are outside your body or that your thoughts and feelings aren't real. For me, I start to feel my inner voice is separate from me-sometimes it seems to come from outside me.

Are there any meds that can be used for depersonalization?

Anything that reduces anxiety and stress will help decrease the intensity of depersonalization.

Maybe you are reacting to the increase in Lithium? But thing is, you needed the increase because you were hypomanic. It's so hard to find the right balance.

I do feel for you. I wish I had some answers.
