Re: parnate abstracts - OCD/sad? *urgent-ish*

sorry to be a pain, but is there still nothing specific particularly for OCD? i have searched everywhere and can't find anything. i saw my pdoc today and he won't go above 30mg. at 20mg i feel anxious; at 30mg a bit zombieish, but the decrease in anxiety makes it seem worth pursuing higher doses, especially given the pubmed abstracts i've seen about its use in phobic conditions. he now wants me on anafranil instead, but i don't want to try it because it sounds really dirty.

i am going to my GP tomorrow to maybe try and apply for hospitalization to be monitored on a higher doses of Parnate, but some evidence (i.e. abstracts would help). is there anything????

Sorry that I cannot be of any help regarding OCD dosages..
BUT I cannot believe your doctor is soooo conservative about the dosage?!
In most articles they mention dosages between 30 and 60mg to be completely normal (even the manufacturer of Parnate in Germany)..
There are not nearly as many controlled trials with parnate as with all the other newer meds, so it might be really difficult to find something mean particular about OCD.

But you should find lots of articles in general about parnate where it's stated that 30mg is a really low dose and that dosages as high as (at least) 60mg are very common!

Did you already try showing those articles Scott and others mentioned before on babble to your pdoc? I guess you already did that, but if not maybe it would help?
Especially this article from those Harvard Medical Scool professors comes into my mind. The one published in Current Psychiatry 2002. I think Scott mentioned it and you can download it for free. If you don't already have it I could also mail it to you if you can't find it online.

Good luck to you! Don't let anyone interfere with this great chance of a successful treatment option!

*sigh*, the GP accused me self-destructively trying to self-manage my condition, and didn't care what "gun ho" american psychs did. my life feels like a perpetual Kafka novel.
