need parnate-friendly pdoc brooklyn/manhattan

Posted by Elanor Roosevelt on September 12, 2009, at 22:29:28

I had a nightmare appointment with a nut-case psychiatrist a few days ago. Hate to even think about it. I am in terrible crisis and she was determined to lecture me on diet the entire time-- gluten blahblah, food allergies blahblah, absorption blahblah, blood type, dairy --on and on. I tried to explain that I was familiar with all mentioned theories and would consider diet changes but that i was in crisis and was concerned that I would soon stop asking for help. I guess I wasn't clear enough.
I stopped her when she was telling me about her brother-in-laws spleen, again when she was telling me about her patient who waited 10 years to take her advice, later I told her that I didn't give a damn about her own absorption issues. She was determined to drone on and on in her self-perceived brilliance. The little info she collected from me was directed to supporting her lecture. She was even so kind as to answer some questions for me.
She would not tell me if she was going to prescribe anything but hinted at antipsychotics.
I had to leave. I was livid and desperate.
I really need a thinking doctor to help me. Who knows someone on Brooklyn or Manhattan I can get to?

The best docs must be in the city. I'm sure someone will give a name. Sure did sound like a nutcase you saw. Phillipa

Sorry for the crappy experience. I have a pdoc in Manhattan who prescribed me Nardil but only when I prompted him. Frankly I think he´s a bit of an idiot and arrives at reasonable medication suggestions but for completely the wrong reasons. However I can pass along his contact details if you wish to try him out.
