Abilify and what?

Posted by SheilaC on August 17, 2009, at 9:23:41

After getting off of Pristiq and having my crabbiness come back full force, I'm waiting on a call back from my doc's office as to when I can get in to see him or his PA.

I guess Abilify is the only thing so far that will work without hurting my bladder. It must effect serotonin somehow.

When should you take it, in the AM or PM?

Also - Abilify makes me blow up with water weight. Can I take a water pill with it?

I feel kind of weird taking Seroquel at night to sleep and Abiify during the day. Two atypicals seem like a bad idea.

What other ADs have you tried other than Pristiq? Have you ever tried something like Lamictal for the depression.

I hope you find a good cocktail soon with few side effects.

I don't see a problem in taking two APs if they are helping.

Sheila,

I'm not sure at all, and am on the fly, but I thought abilify was a dual dopamine antagonist / agonist. Was it Maxine that said that there must be something else to try--a TCA?

I'm sorry I do not know more,

best,

fb

cymbalta, lyrica. savella, ?

I have a friend who takes 10 abilify in the morning with 60 mg Cymbalta and she loved it. After several years on it she's thinking it may have lost its power, but in the beginning and for the first few years it made her a different person.

Hi Maxime, Lamictal made my mouth break out in blisters - very scary. I'm going to talk to my doc today to see if there is something else I can take.

Since Pristiq worked I'm guessing maybe Cymbalta or Effexor might work without the numbness and constipation. Don't know.

Sheila,

I'm not sure sure about effexor and numbness. I felt 'numb' on and then some.--Maybe ask some others? Haven't tried cymbalta.

that's just my experience,

best luck finding the right ad,
