Can Abilify increase food cravings?

Posted by Roslynn on August 13, 2009, at 18:54:01

Hi everyone,

I have recently started Abilify and have had the most massive cravings for things like french fries, which I never usually eat.

Has anyone had this happen? Can Abilify make you crave certain foods?

Thanks for any help!

It can increase your appetite, so I guess it can cause cravings. Mmmmmm, french fries. I hope the cravings go away.

For me, carbs and sweets--starchy stuff, too. Gained weight quickly on it at 10mg. Was hard to resist certain foods, even if I was exercising.

Hell ya, I couldn't get enough carbs, it was out of control. And I was only on 1mg

Do you think that the appetite stimulation produced by Abilify is dose-independent. I am currently taking 20mg. I was wondering whether lowering the dosage would reduce my appetite.

1mg? Gosh.

Well, Phil, you do live by that great burger joint....

Seriously, abilify might just be alright for you--what was that potential side-effect you mentioned on social?

Scott, I can't really answer that. But I am really sensitive to antipsychotics. I don't like any of them.
