embarrassing question...for women only

Posted by Roslynn on August 10, 2009, at 16:12:43

Hi,

This is embarrassing but does anyone else find that meds can change your menstrual cycle? Like change the timing so it comes much sooner, or later, heavier, etc?

This happened to me and it's really throwing me off...

Any help appreciated!

Roslynn

Antipsychotics do that to me as do tricyclics. I have no answers, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone.

I haven't experienced that directly related to meds, but I think, why not? I'm heading off to menopause, so I'm all over.

Do you have an idea what the med might be? Acupuncture can help some women with menstrual issues. I take my meds and go for chinese medicinal support. Whatever works....

best regards,

Yes. One med gave me the worst cramps I had ever experienced and was about to go the er. One med made my cycle longer (I am usually pretty regular). And I swear that some med trials have given me different pms stuff.
Weird.

Not that I've noticed, but I take birth control pills that regulate my cycle so I've never noticed.

Long into and past menopause taking bioidentials don't work so will wean off them but they caused some breakthrough bleeding. I do know that benzos cause on changes as was on them all the years of cycling. Phillipa

When I tried Trileptal it messed up my hormones.
