Hormones Anyone on Them?

Posted by Phillipa on July 6, 2009, at 13:06:50

I seriously thought that bioidenticals would help me now hearing from others that they might cause cancer and just don't take. I'm pretty devasted as seriously thought they could help me the doc said they could. Please reply. Love Phillipa

Phillipa,

I have no advice--but what do you mean cause cancer? As regular replacement can? I thought that was still in debate....

Did you post this to alternative as well?

My belief remains the use of HRT whether bioId's or synthetic by females is more effective for physical distresses of menopause than anything else.

The use of bioId's is no more or less safe from a cancer risk than synthetic imo as the conversion in the liver to a useable form to the body is essentially the same. My belief the risk is the same & I'm of the thought of lowest effective dose & limited time - I know this is controversal but that's my beliefs.

I only have second hand information about personal use - FWIW - physical sympts improved and slight improved mood due to that but no whiz bang for mental.

I'm sorry HRT isn't appearing to do what you would like but if it's not by this time -------

oops my above message for phillippa (nm)

No didn't post on alternative as many of the bioidenticals come in patch form so must bypass liver, sprays for estrogen, creams for all three. I'm on the creams created from plant sources. Did you know all pharmacists must learn how to compound as part of their training in pharmacy school? Something that is bioidentical has the same structure as the ones found in your body. Some say they protect from cancer. Now the originals from the study in I think 2002 was on the horse pee ones that contrain many more hormones than the human body has. Also Thyroid is a hormone. Forms a huge loop which affects all organs of the body. I feel only time will tell if bios can do what is written about them help osteoporosis, restore some skin tone, relieve fatigue. I started doing searches it's amazing what's out there. Lots of google searches and combos. Compounding Pharmacies, bioidentical hormones, Fda approved ones and some a lot actually are FDA approved, climara and vivelle patch, promethium pill, estromist spray for estrogen, and testosterone creams , androgel. Phillipa ps I'm seriously questioning this doc and actually went there today and said I want more bloodwork and include throid as hormones can influence the thyroid if thyroid disease which I have. Thanks for reading and asking. Do some searches you will definitely find some great info outthere to sift through
