Effexor XR and Paxil Together

Posted by jjman1981 on June 20, 2009, at 9:06:17

I take 225mg of Effexor XR , 30 mg of Paxil and 75 mg of seroquel. It is for GAD and OCD problems along with depression. I do not feel the effect of effexor since 6 months and this is why my doctor add paxil. What do you think of this cocktail for anxiety ? I think paxil cause a lot of fatigue. I also have memory problem and RLS. I'm worried about possible serotonin symdrome.

Thank.

If your doc thinks it's safe, maybe it is. There is concern for serotonin syndrome since both medication inhibit the reuptake of serotonin. I bet it depends on what dosage you are taking of each one. Never heard of this combo but if it works that's great.

Serotonin syndrome is unlikely given what you're on.

RLS probably is from the dopamine blockade from the Seroquel. Maybe try backing off that a bit, or add Benadryl 50mg at night. If that doesn't work, try a bit of Mirapex or Requip.

The fog can be from any of the stuff you're taking.
