What should I do? Meds and tiredness.

Posted by Zyprexa on May 24, 2009, at 18:40:23

I'm taking:
10mg zyprexa
4x8mg perphenazine
200mg bupropion sr (wellbutrin sr)
150mg sertraline (zoloft)

I'm sleeping all the time. My blood sugars are high some times, has not been in a while but today for some reason it was. Some times I sleep 8 hours some times I sleep like today, from 12am till 7pm. Usualy its about 10-12 hours. I'm gaining weight again.

My doctor is not taking my current insurance, which I will have till september, when I go on medicare, which my doctors all take. So I'm afraid to go in to see my Pdoc till september, because I will have to pay $100 a visit. And if I go in with this problem I'm sure she will have me coming in every few weeks or so which I don't want to pay $100 each.

My solution to this problem is take more wellbutrin sr, 300mg like I was taking before. But the doctor is probably thinking something else. My other thought is to take less perphenazine and go off it. But now that my blood sugar is higher and I'm eating more I'm thinking to take less of the zyprexa, maybe 5mg. Realy what I would like is a license to play around with my meds with out the doctor, till I find some thing that works. But you know how doctors are they like to be in the loop.

So what should I do. I've realy got to atleast sleep less and would like the perphenazine to work in place of zyprexa but don't think that will happen, because of all my other failed attemps to get off the zyprexa. Currently I'm not working and this is the time to play with meds.

I don't know if this is appropriate, but I'm being given Cytomel (a synthetic thyroid hormone) to augment Parnate. Now, I don't have hypothyroidism, all the tests show normal for thyroid. It supposedly makes the Parnate more effective, and compared to Deplin (which did nothing), I am feeling some positive benefit since I started Cytomel.

The big drawback, however, is insomnia. Both Parnate and Cytomel have major insomnia SEs. Maybe a low dose of Cytomel will have a positive effect on your sleep pattern.

But this is just a guess. There are others here who understand the actual chemical reactions involved and they might disagree with me.

Well I went one day with out zyprexa, and boy do I feel sick today. Thats out of the question. I'm not going to be reducing that one. Realy weird disasociated(I guess is the word) feeling.

Philipa blood sugar was 214 on one meter and 170 on the other one. So its not that bad. Quite a difference between the two meters a.

You know I switched blood sugar meds recently. I wonder if that had some thing to do with it. I went from Metformin ER to Metformin IR. I recall it made a difference before. Maybe I should take more of the IR. Or try switching back to the ER, to see what happens. I have some of both.

I took the zyprexa this morning about a half hour ago and already feeling better! I must be dreaming to think I can get off this zyprexa.

So maybe I should just come off the perphenazine. Or go back to 300mg wellbutrin sr. Or do both. What do you think?

Your doc that treats the diabetes. Let him know what sugars are. Unless that is what they usually are. Love Phillipa

It was a one time reading that was high. Today it was 191. High but not too high. I'm not real worried, but maybe I should take more of the medicine if it persists. Or go back to the ER version. Could be one of those two. I thought the IR version would work better because the first meal of the day is always the highest. The rest of the day is always very reasonable.

I've decided I'm going to the doctor tomorow. See if I can take more wellbutrin sr and decrease the perphenazine. Maybe even eventualy stop the prephenazine.

Well I talked to my doctor this morning and she said it doesn't sound like a problem to increase the wellbutrin sr back up to 300mg. Yaaa!!

She called back later and wanted me to go in and see her. I did that today and she gave me a prescription for the extra wellbutrin sr. She didn't want to change the zyprexa or perphenazine. This was after a few minutes of suggesting: Invega, haldol shots, some other typical I've never heard of, seroquel, risperdal, can't remember if there were more.

The funny thing she said at the end of the appointment was that some people abuse zyprexa? Is this true?! I asked why they abuse it and she said for sleep. What does this mean that some people abuse zyprexa. Its not addictive is it?

Zyprexa never heard of that before. Did you ask who? Maybe prisoners that want to sleep away their sentences. Just don't know. Phillipa

i think the prisoner 'abuse' (i'm quite skeptical this is something other than wanting to sleep despite the horrors of being in prison) is about quetiapine. and the same as it being rxed for insomnia, except since its prisoners and everything they do is 'bad' then its abuse.

hope the no.s improve
