can a pdoc 'call in' a benzo script??

Posted by obsidian on May 22, 2009, at 23:46:20

I am going to so screwed my friends.
I went to this one pharmacy particularly convenient to me to fill the klonopin among other things. Well, when I went to pick it up they said they hadn't had all of the klonopin (not enough generic klonopin?) well "ok", I said, "I'll pick it up another day." Well, now I am out of it, never went to pick it up, and won't be able to pick it up until Wednesday. That leaves me no pills for the next 4 days. I don't know if I can get a hold of my pdoc, let alone get another pharmacy to advance me the needed amount of klonopin. If I had some ativan left over I might just use that to get me through, but I have nothing, and along with the anxiety it's going to mess seriously with my brain. I'm just going to leave pdoc a message. I think pharmacies won't accept phoned in scripts for klonopin. We shall see. I am not looking forward to the prospect of going from 1mg daily to no klonopin for the next 4 days.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Sid

My doctor says he can't call in benzo scripts. So I have to drive 30 miles to pick them up.

Mine calls them in her office is four hours away different cities. Since they didn't dispense you the remaining klonopin why won't they dispense it now? Did you pay for it as if my pharmacy doesn't have enough pay for all and when pick up remainder pay nothing. I don't understand but I think the ativan would hold you as I've always switched from one to another of benzos no problems just use equivalent dose. Good luck. Love Phillipa

I know they can in Canada, I've had it phoned with no problem? If I run out of a med before getting a script, the pharmacy will give me a few days worth (given the fact my records are on file with them indicating prior use) to get me buy until I see my doc.
I don't think clonazepam is classified as a highly controlled substance anyways, may be wrong?
Why can't you pickup your prescription that was dropped off previous?
Hope you're able to work things out...... Rick

I didn't mean to suggest that it can't be done, but I've had two doctors who say they can't call in Xanax prescriptions and, in fact, can't provide for refills on the prescription.

Now, whether they "can't" or just "won't" is probably the real question. I know my current doctor is very cautious about monitoring my meds, and basically renews most of my prescriptions at each visit. In a way, I appreciate his approach because I rarely miss an appointment.

If you can't pick your meds up because you're going to be away, why don't you see if the pharmacy will contact one of its stores wherever you will be and have it filled there?

To the best of my knowledge I believe III-V substances can be done here by some fax/telephone method. I don't know about other parts of the US.

Schedule II substances I'm not sure about whether faxed prescriptions are sufficient or whether it would have to be overnighted or carried in by the individual.

I do know that tamper proof prescription pads are now required for scheduled substances.

In general, a regular non scheduled prescription may require a DOB on your script, a scheduled is required a DOB, and the patients address.

Laws are tightening in the US, and are affecting genuine verified US online pharmacies.

I think that there are a bit too much restrictions going on and that this society is becoming controlled to the point of idiocy.

It also places more burden on doctors and they are taking more and more precautions with the DEA breathing down licenses.

I also am not making light of people who are faking/selling oxycontin on the street. That's a different story.

you should use all avenues to get your benzo, or be ready for an uncomfortable holiday after day 2. Perhaps a pharmacy that knows you will front you some. perhaps, if you can get ahold of the T, he has some samples.

best of luck

the pharmacy it was filled at is closed for the next three days. I need to get a few days worth now to get me through until then.

I never picked up any of it, just figured I'd pick up the whole months supply a couple of days ago, but forgot, now I'm out with no access to that pharmacy for three days. I don't have any ativan, but called a friend to see if she has any she can lend me. We shall see.

well you know I happen to have worked at a pharmacy when I was younger. The pharmacist would sometimes get a call in for a benzo and fill it with the expectation of getting an actual prescription in the mail after that. I don't know if that is accepted practice or not.

I am really hoping to avoid withdrawal. I have a history of having some seizure like experiences. I'd rather not go through that, not to mention the anxiety, agitation and irritability.
