Adrenal Fatigue

Posted by NewQuestions on April 21, 2009, at 9:31:00

Many of us experience muscle ache and fatigue while on an SSRI and in withdrawal. I read this as a possible cause. Does this make any sense?

"...the Vancouver Canucks and their use of the "hyperbaric chamber" to accelerate healing. They actually have been using this thing for quite some time and now have stopped using it..why. Because one of the downfalls of hyperbaric treatments is that there can be no concentration of ions in a 100% oxygen environment, the human body once exposed to an ion free oxygen environment starts to produce excessive levels of serotonin, the body then tries to compensate through the adrenal glands and eventually the adrenals get burnt out.... see that pattern here??? This is what happens to those who take SSRI's..and so the same problem arises..adrenal exhaustion. The article continues to say that recovery from this type of condition will take anywhere from 1 to 3 years and that the adrenals don't just "bounce back".

Any idea how a lot of folks seem to do well on SSRI's and then stop in a year or two and seem fine? Love Phillipa

People are different. Messing with neurotransmitters without any sort of real testing is potent stuff. It's an individual thing. Also I think SSRI's work better in women than in men.

I've read that with the interactions between brain and hormones, SSRI's are better for promoting feel good women hormones. Fx SSRI's increase hormones like progesterone(or at least a hormone similar to progesterone) and Noradrenalin increases estrogen. However dopamine increases testosterone. So men need dopagenic drugs.

Is that also true the other way around? Does testosterone increase dopamine?
