WooHoo! Augmenting Eff-XR here. Not nortriptyline

Posted by Fivefires on March 19, 2009, at 20:07:40

Pdoc finally agreed to augment Eff-XR.

But, we chose nortriptyline, and it hasn't been good. It has worsened my depression, caused blurred vision, and it causes a rigidity which aggravates chronic c-spine pain.

This side effect could be a good way to exclude some meds, ya' think anyone?

What I'm looking for in this augmentor is 'a mood' and 'not increased pain'.

Ideas? Suggestions? Dark horses?

Why have I NOT found an answer in thirty years?

It's other peoples' fault, but I let some of them; one too strong.

Does any1 think a stop-stick for me is presenting myself a bit more grandiose than am? Has any1 ever picked up on this, 'cuz I really can't see myself at all at this point?!

The agoraphobia is full speed, panic, cry, and undeliberately/deliberately sabotage appts so won't have to leave the house!

Need some1 'to care' 'cuz Sun n Aries = niavete, infant; but bite if threaten freedom 'cuz moon in Leo = leader, honest; & here's where it really gets confusing. Venus is in Libra! The opposite sex is attracted to you.

So, to sum me up, 4 fun or not, astrologically,
I'm an innocent, dreamer, believer, honest to a fault, charmer magnet, w/o the ability to recognize a charmer due to my naivete!

Anyway, I think the universe can handle a little blame.

(I'm getting tired. I go soon.)

Is it my fault for letting the charmers in if I'm incapable of knowing they are charmers? Idk. I'm sorry.

I think it's my fault if I'm not authentic, and you all know, you know I stretch it w/ the grandiosity a bit don't you? Tks for not yellin' at me for it.

I'm not 'all that' if I act a bit grandiose now and then, and do you think I try ti come off as a little more knowledgeable than I am sometimes? Ya' got me there too. Have you guys known this all along and just not wanted to hurt my feelings?

Wow; good self discovery. (Am I me yet?)

Anyway, what else was suggested?

Don't think lamictal as was going through medications file and noted it as B A D in red ink.

Do a lot of psych meds cause muscle rigidity because it really aggravates C2-3, 3-4, 4-5, and 5-6, where I have extrusions, and the pain shoots up like firework headaches.

A different tricyclic ya' think?

Don't like idea of Seroquel but some suggest.

I can't remember anything anymore, so if u already told me, appreciate u tell me again.

I'm getting close to giving anything but lithium or MAOIs a try.

Tried Nardil but dc'd as live alone and couldn't help self.

And then there's hype about Abilify.(?)

Please suggestions. DX: PTSD, Anxiety, Atypical

like you guys a lot ya know, 5f

Five Fires have you considered in patient group home setting for a while so you won't feel alone and will get some help? I don't know what meds to suggest. Aren't you on a pain killer, effexor, benzo? providgil? Anything else? I've really not remembered. And having trouble following your train of throught. But you got to pdoc's right? Love Phillipa

Wellbutrin is not a bad drug to add to Effexor.

Effexor + nortripyline was partially effective for me, which is saying a lot.

You could try going the other way. I remember that celexa plus + effexor was a good combination.

I typed a long reply to the birthday babbler here and lost my Internet connection. I'm experiencing terrible fear of leaving my house for an appt. I did it yesterday or the day before too. It's as if it's not purposeful. It's like I have no control. I an too anxious, too agitated, need to rest, scared to leave house, don't know why, don't know what has happened. Wonder if have had SS w/ perm. damage or maybe a seizure. Would CT show?

I'm sorry lost first reply. Happy Birthday Phillipa and tks S & L. I welcome your help and thank you.

Phillipa mentioned earlier in the thread that you were taking Provigil. Try stopping that and see whether you feel less anxious after several days That made me edgy after a while and I tolerate most other stimulants (amphetmines, coffee) fine. It's definitely not a drug I'd recommend to someone who's very agitated and nervous.

i had posted here, of what i think might help; http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20090304/msgs/884822.html

not sure why you don't want to try lithium?

did you try lamotrigine, and find side effects?

how long were you on nort? if it was a week or so it m ight just need abit more time to start working and lower side effects. NA reuptake can help with pain, i think it might take longer to start to work.

also, have you tried clonidine? especially for PTSD, might help with pain too. and also calming adn sedating.

tks .. my room's a mess (not like me at all) and my memory is too. I should write down post numbers (there's paper all around me but not w/o something on it) okay... i'm writin' it down (but is it the 1st or 2nd set of #s I ask myself, so write down both) ok

> not sure why you don't want to try lithium?

I guess I've been around meds and medical talk for so long, and right now I'm feeling so weak and fragile, ... think it scares me to be tried on anything 'big', FLOBW, here alone.

What's this one?

I think it's been at least 3wks or going on 4th week. Just stopped couple days ago. Last eve' Armour thyroid and Folbic acid were taken away from me (off formulary/organization took over prescription coverage part D Medicare) and no one, neither pdoc or psych, returned my call asking 'what do I do?'.

Apologize is missed a post. Ya' know, I think I'd like to ask a favor. Would one of you be able to pls just write a short list of everyone's suggested med for augmenting or changing? I'm sorry; probably asking a lot, but, I think I'm tired of taking care of myself, I mean doing all the footwork for the doctors. I've done so much damn self-advocating, and truthfully, I think now maybe this has been a negative instead of a positive. Maybe they want to play god w/ my body. Maybe just some. I dunno.

> also, have you tried clonidine?>

Can't think of brand name for this either d/r

well thank you so much .. so damn weary can't even capitalize the first word of sentence, so 'the hell w/ the period'

> -d/r

thank you so much for caring, and if you or anyone is able to sorta' steer me, would appreciate; nothing to give back right now though but my heart to all
