Hi.

If you are going to perform an adequate trial of Parnate, you are going to need to get up to a dosage of 40-80mg. Just increase the dosage at a rate that you can tolerate. For each dosage increase you perform within the therapeutic range, you might want to wait 3 weeks to see if you respond. That will also give your body time to adjust and have side effects mitigate.

Hi Ayda,

Welcome to babble. I hope the new meds suit you and help with the anxiety/depression.

Babble has several boards for different topics - this is the psychology board, a place to discuss therapy. You'll probably get more replies to your post if you re-post it on the medication board. Probably a deputy will redirect your current thread there in any case but sometimes during the weekend it takes a little longer. I hope you get lots of useful feedback.

Hi,
I don't know what to say about the cold sores other than antiviral. For the sleep -I am fighting my own battle with it aswell - the common med(s) are hypnotic benzos (scott identified two types of insomnia also: inability to get to sleep and inability to stay asleep - treatment should be geared in this regard). Restoril (Temazepam) I've heard is a good longish acting benzo for sleep (not many awakenings on this one - keep you asleep) as well as the old standby xanax (gets you to sleep - see wiki under benzodiazepines hun, there is a chart there with type and halflife). Also the pseudobenzo Z-drugs (marketed as actual 'sleep meds'): zopiclone, ambien, lunesta, sonata (also on same wiki page).
Then if you like more of a knock you on your *ss like an elephant dart there is trazodone and especially Seroquel. I've used the traz with effexor with great success in the past but it doesnt get along with nardil (my maoi) aswell.

5mg zolpidem gave hallucinations!! lol.. temazepams ok but high risk of dependance as it is a very short acting one.. once receptors are downregulated u dont get the same effects.. i wish i had the guts to try seroquel or trazodone.. will read up on them thanks for the posts guys.. if anyone has more info on any substance used off-label for insomnia please let us know thanks

I was terrified to start seroquel..I take 50 mg. now, along with zopiclone for sleep. I have fibromyalgia and am bipolar so restorative sleep is critical for me. Adding the seroquel really helped with my sleep issues.

i had some yogurt with my food the other night about three big tablespoonfuls i thought yogurt was ok because it had been removed from the new list.. then all of a sudden i felt something wierd my heart was beating forcefully, it was not beating fast i could feel blood surge into my limbs with every heart beat and was really worried for a few hours, but i suppose it was just the stimulant effect of the drug kicking in has anyone tried lots of foods on the maby list

Hey, It could be the yogurt but since youve just started it's most likely a side of the med. For me racing heart/high bp was never a problem starting it was low bp and dizzyness. Although best to be careful here and go easy on the yogurt until you can proove without a doubt it isnt. For me I would likely taste a little less next time when I felt good then watched for response but I dont feel you should be compelled to do this. We all react differently. But ya generally when I eat something I shouldnt have, or too much, my heart rate goes noticably faster, sweating goes with it...ive never eaten enough to get much of a headache (mild only). Ive eaten most of the mabyes to some degree. Id never touch very old/aged cheeses and draft beer though.

having your heart race and feeling flush etc. is also symptom of panic attack. if you ate a apple and i told you there was lots of tyramine in it you might have the same thing happen. its possible an old batch esp. homemade yoghurt could have some tyramine but its easy to have a false positive with this stuff
