Hi Jeroen,

The only way you can get Seroquel to get activated again, is first by lowering the dose - maybe even a washout period where you take nothing - and then start over again.

Same thing happened to me. I used to be at 900 mg/day. Now I'm back to 300 mg/day.

You could also try adding an anti-depressant. For me that's Trazodone. Trouble with all these meds is, the body adjusts and after a while it seems like the meds loose their effectivenesss.

So in my opinion, the best is withdrawal - OR - switching to another med.

By the way, I can't comment on the memantine 'cause I have no experience with it.

Hang in there son - someday you'll find something that works.

Best wishes,
Maria

How long have you been back on Seroquel?

What is your current dose?

Are you taking any other medications at this time?

I don't know that I can offer any useful advice, but at least you know someone's paying attention, right? And the answers to those questions might help trigger some thoughts.

Best luck.

I just don't know what to say, Jeroen, there is still this loop and loop of medications going on.

I also don't feel it is helpful for you to be self-diagnosing asperger's, just because maybe someone else on here has it or you heard about it.

What purpose does it serve to you to worry yourself -- leave it for now for the doctors, who should really be doing their homework after all, what 5 months, for primary diagnostics as they can observe you over that length of time. You are perfectly free to disagree.

the only thing that is blocking the psychosis is abilify and i think seroquel a bit too

Do you have any bad side effects from the abilify? Does the seroquel help in conjunction with the abilify?

yea abilify sort of saved the day but its not perfect
i am taking it for 5 months now

i want to try adding memantine, but what if it causes acute psychosis, i am safe then right because i take abilify?

No agent is perfect, but I'm glad its working -- that is a very -GOOD- thing and you should look at it as the glass is half full!

I don't know what Namenda will really do to you, there's no "magicness" (not trying to be contrite) to its ability to change other things necessarily, but if your doctors believe it has some value for your disorder, thats up to you and them.

No you're not safe necessarily -- upsetting the apple cart (american expression) is not always the best thing, drugs don't necessarily protect you from other drugs, even AEDs from seizure effects although that is better than nothing.

I'd wait a bit longer with the Abilify, but its up to your team.

No AP is perfect! You should stick with Abilify?
