Out with the lexapro, in with the nefazadone

Posted by dapper on October 21, 2008, at 19:04:45

After todays doc visit, I am switching from lexapro to nefazadone. The sexual side effects have become to much for me, and the lexapro wasn't working well enough for me. My sleep has been crap, and I have not been feeling as well as I should. So now its 100mg/daily nefazadone, 150mg wellbutrin. What do you all think I should expect?

I don't know what do you think and why was that the docs choice of meds? For me lexapro was stimulating at low doses and tried serzone and didn't stimulate me. Phillipa

Well, I think you could expect to sleep good finally :-).

No guess on whether it helps your mood or not. A minority of patients to great on wellbutrin, most do fair, and a minority get a lot worse. So, no predictions on that one.

The transition between lexapro and serzone might be weird though. Withdrawals and brain readjustments from no lexapro, mixed in with start up side effects and brain readjustments from serzone. Hopefully it will go smooth though.

Ya, the lexapro has def. thrown my sleep out of whack. I usually lay there for 2 hours or more tryin to fall asleep, and it feels like a really light sleep. Then I sleep in till like 12 or 1 the next day. No good.
The lexapro mainly threw my sleep and my appetite out of whack. Mix in the sexual side effects, and I told my doc I wanna switch and try this. I'm not concerned about the liver worries, yet....

For the liver concerns, you should take milk thistle daily. It is a great herb for liver protection and rejuvenation. Read up on it a little bit and you'll see what I mean. It is one of those rare herbs that actually has a strong body of scientific evidence behind it, versus most that are based on chinese history, anecdotal reports, or internet claims. Milk thistle is a good one, with specific action in liver health.
