provigil and anti-psychotics

Posted by Michael Bell on October 15, 2008, at 15:53:11

Has anyone used provigil along with a neuroleptic/antipsychotic? I heard that provigil can sometimes induce paranoia, so I am wondering if it will cancel out the anti-paranoia effects of the neuroleptic. I am considering taking provigil to get rid of the extreme daytime tiredness i get from geodon but am worried about the interaction. Does anyone have experience with combingin provigil with anti-psychotics? what were the results?

Provigil is devired from its parent whose name is Adrafinil. I used Adrafinil with Zyprexa for about 3 years. The two did partially cancel out the side effects of each other, but they worked good together at significantly improving depression/interest/anhedonia, a lot better than either alone.

That being said, it is impossible to predict anything with medications or to base one's own response according to what happened with someone else. There is no substitute for a personal trial.

I take provigil and abilify together. They seem to work well together, but at first i was taking too much provigil and it DID make me anxious/manic, so i got on a lower dose and it was just fine. Start out low on it, if you take it.
