Adderall half life

Posted by B2chica on October 17, 2008, at 13:49:27

i think i read the half life of adderall was 15-20 hours, does that mean it's in your system for that long...
how long is it supposed to actively work?

i just took my second one and i think maybe now i wasn't supposed to take two?
i never did read the pharmacy label. when i was talking with pdoc i remember asking him if i take it like i did the ritalin (every four hours) and he said yes...he hesitated thinking about getting me XR, but decided not too.
so it's not supposed to be XR.

but maybe its supposed to last 6 hours instead of four?
my hearts beating a little fast right now, more than it was this morning.
but it could be anxiety mixed in with it now too.

I take Adderall three times a day. About every four hours, but i have built up an extreme tolerance, so I think because you are just starting it that may be a factor. If you get any chest pain DIAL 911 IMMEDIATELY!

You might want to call your doc and tell him, it may be to much for your system.

B2chica,

I am new here, but the topic of adderall caught my attention. I was on Adderall for a few years, and I have a few classes in psychopharmacology.. Adderall can be very dangerous. Adderall was suspended for a while from the Canadian market because of the risks. Please be careful, and make sure you discuss your reactions with your physician.

Please understand that is only approved for treating ADHD or narcolepsy and can be highly addictive. Adderall has euphoric effects, and is a controll medication for those effects.
Also, keep in mind adderall is a controlled substance. It is a narcotic, and should never be taken other than the way it was prescribed by your doc.

I don't mean to take away from you feeling so good, however, I have had some really bad expriences with it and it was a nightmare getting off! I had to go inpatient and through a rehab program.

Just to clarify, Adderall is NOT chemically a narcotic. It is a controlled substance.

i have ADD and bipolar.
i was on ritalin, but mostly because ritalin helped more with my mood than any other of the list of drugs i've been on.
i had a problem with my pharmacy and doc switched me to Adderall.

i'm xx years old, i do realize it's controlled substance, nor am i abusing it.
this is naturally a euphoric feeling im getting. i just started it and i assume (like everything else) it will eventually go away.
so i'm just very happy to smile for real, to be active at work, able to take care of my husband, my home AND my AMAZING littleone for the first time in i cant remember how many months.

i'm sorry you had such a hard time with this drug.
but it's a keeper for me. i hope i don't have problems getting off it, but like everything else there's some withdrawl effect.
and one med i Never mess with is my ADD drug...i need it most of all.

******************
for the record i think the NE release is whats ccausing the manic behaviors, but the dopamine release is what's saving me. ritalin never had that. and i just feel Great.
