Pristiq

I've just been prescribed Pristiq for my major depression. Has anyone been on it and has it worked for you?

I tried Pristiq. Didn't help much, but then I never have done well with SNRIs or SSRIs. I think it's just a slight reformulation of Effexor, the patent for which runs out in less than 2 years.

Very True, Pristiq is basically a patent extender for Effexor.
-it is a metabolite of effexor. so pristiq is what your body makes naturally when you take effexor (kinda explained)...anyway.

but don't let that stop you from trying it.

Effexor was probably one of the worst ADs i've been on and i react sensitively to AD's, i have tried TONS, finally i decided to try pristiq, i had nothing to loose, and i've had some difficulty but right now (today) i'm doing quite well.
it's been 5 weeks and i think it's FINALLY kicking in this week. starting yesterday i'm feeling really good. (either that or i'm on an upswing (bipolar...))

and i've heard this from my T also, that some of her other patients that were on it took about 6 weeks before it really kicked in.
so expect some wait time for it to really work. augment in the mean time if your really bad off.

Best Wishes!
b2c.
