Do Provigil vivid dreams ever go away?

Posted by luvpurple on September 14, 2003, at 12:51:40

I LOVE what Provigil has done for me during the day but was wondering if the vivid dreams ever go away or what has to be done to lessen them or make them less vivid or even make them stop. I know it's listed as a side effect. Do others have this problem and if so what have you done, if anything, to make them less vivid or stop???

How many mgs of provigil are you taking? Why are you taking it? And with what other drugs is it combined? Do you drink alcohol? Do you take the provigil at night or in the am? All these things have an impact on how provigil affects me. I am just not sure of what is a 'low dose' as opposed to a 'very low dose' as I have read of some taking 800mg I am very interested in sharing info about provigil with those taking it for depression.

I take 150mg. of Provigil twice a day. I take the first dose at breakfast (times vary) and the second dose about 2:30 p.m. I'm bipolar II and was rapid-cycling into depression every couple of weeks. I take 15mg. Paxil at 7 p.m. and 600mg. Neurontin at 8:30 p.m. I also have major panic attacks and take Xanax as needed. I drink alcohol very rarely. I'd say 1 beer a week and sometimes not even that much. I know if I don't eat something with that first dose I feel anxious. I've read on these boards some who take only 25 or 50 mg. Provigil and that's worked for them. I just think some need to play with the dose to see what's right for them.

I just wonder whether the Provigil alone is causing the dream changes, or if it is the combination...or is it one of those individual things? It is so hard to tell because each of us does have a uniqe over-all chemestry, and each drug has its unique action and interaction. You know, Xanax is a depressant...depending on how much you take. Are you in talk therapy, too? I just can't get away from thinking that, regardless of the diagnosis, meds without talk therapy (of one kind or another...this doesn't count, though) are not enough. Thanks and good luck.

DO NOT TAKE PAXIL IF YOU ARE BI-POLAR. Paxil is great and I have been on it for a few months now and just love it but i've read online that people with bi-polar disorder can not take paxil because it may lead to more manic episodes. please get another opinion from another doctor.
