reversing poop out effects from Dopamine antagonis

Posted by Jeroen on August 21, 2008, at 2:51:43

i've found this on the Dr-bob board from Udopamergenic, is this true and will this work with Seroquel?

As others have noticed, tolerance develops. It's my experience that selegiline helps reverse it, and that after approximately a week of selegiline (10 mg/day p.o.) abstinence from dopamine autoreceptor antagonists, a prominent stimulant response is again possible upon resuming the antagonist. I intend to attempt to verify that assumption in a few days.

reversing poop out of psychostimulants

hopped the boarder and got an RX for memantine... the nmda antagonist, that has been theorized to reverse or hold off tolerance to psychostimulants. It has been working brilliantly for two full months, in combination with modafinil and a fairly steady intake of caffeine...

While all your focus has been on antipsychotics and dopamine, you might consider that other drugs affect things involved with psychosis as well, and that the whole dopamine-psychosis thing is theory, not fact. There is more to consider. That being said, check this out...

Psychotic depression:
We found one systematic review (search date 2004, 10 RCTs, 548 people) that compared the effectiveness of drug treatments for people with psychotic depression. [38] Two RCTs included in this review compared imipramine with fluvoxamine (a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and mirtazapine. In the first RCT included in the review imipramine was significantly more effective than fluvoxamine (RR 2.10, 95% CI 1.06 to 4.17, P = 0.03). In the second RCT included in the review imipramine was significantly more effective than mirtazapine (RR 3.00, 95% CI 1.01 to 8.95, P = 0.05). The review found that when data were pooled, TCAs were significantly more effective in treating psychotic depression than non-TCAs (RR 2.36, 95% CI 1.32 to 4.23, P = 0.004). [38]
