Personally, I experienced anorgasmia from Paxil.

It was my first and was extremely tired, diarrhea and slept a lot was on lopressor, and xanax too. Three months and felt better. And was on 10mg didn't gain weight. Took it for about two years and stopped it as pdoc started the luvox why don't know as it was working. Good luck to you. Phillipa

that's what i hated about lexapro. the anorgasmia and the constantly tired feeling.

B2C- that's only my personal experience. Don't let me scare you- it may not happen to you!

ya, thanks.
i know it may not, and my pdoc may not even Rx it who knows.
but thanks for letting me know.

i thought i heard someone talking about it causing anxiety and insomnia once but phillipa talked about it making her tired...

its strange how these drugs effect everyone so differently.
thanks for the input.

Anorgasmia, difficulty getting started, difficulty maintaining, and great difficulty finishing were strong sexual side effects with me. Spouse was great at being patient and working hard to help with arousal, but it was a significant frustration that never went away in a year's time.

Paxil is generally a bit on the sedating relaxing side, though it is also fairly common to experience a surge of anxiety and jitteriness in the early weeks.

Paxil is generally a weight gainer.

After some initial insomnia, I eventually slept again, though it was a lousy light unrefreshing sleep.

Getting off Paxil is almost as hard as getting off Effexor. Other ssris are generally easier to get off than paxil.

Paxil is wonderful for some people, so do not let side effects of other people prevent a good look at it. I am merely sharing my experience with it and some generalities about it, which may or may not apply to you.

This was my first medication. I was a size 8 and withing a few months I was a size 12. Never lost the weight (about 30 lbs) since. Probably because after that I was put on Seroquel and Lexapro. The fatigue from the drugs contributes to the weight stasis, cause I can't excercise as I would like. But I am one of those who gained weight or could not lose, on all medications...even if I ate very little, I would vary only 10 pounds less. Of course, it would come back, since I had to eat normally in the end. :(

I actually felt really good on paxil. That was back 2002 I believe.
Unfortunately, I had chronic nausea and that is rare for me, I usually have a cast iron stomach? I was hoping it would slowly disipate, but after 2 months, no such luck.
I believe there is an extended release version out that may help with digestion?

Anyway, I wish you all the best with whatever you decide. It may work wonders for you.

Regards, Rick

It's been a long time, but I remember it killed my anxiety and panic attacks, and lifted my depression..anorgasmia was bad..and it's not pleasant to come off of.

thanks SO MUCH all of you.

i just got really good hopeful news that my OLD pdoc that stopped practice may be restarting his practice!

its a doc that i totally trusted. just this news alone is helping my depression i swear.
my pdoc now is ok, but i feel i'm doing all the work and he's just writing the scripts.

ANYWAY, thank you all SO MUCH for your input to paxil. saw pdoc and he did NOTHING to my regimine. i did suggest that instead of using xanax for sleep that i try trazodone (since old pdoc had me on that at one time) he wrote me a Rx for it and i started last night.

so i'm gonna hold off on the paxil for now.
i'm just so sensitive to ssri's. i'll see if traz does anything for me depression wise.

thank you all
b2c.
