Brain Zap, Shiver..Can an SSRI actually cause this

Posted by WhatToDoNext on July 29, 2008, at 9:54:49

I have tried a few SSRI's in the past, and none of them have helped my anxiety, so I would go off one and on to another. I've been on Zoloft 50mg for a few months now and I'm getting the Brain Zaps daily on and off.

I know this is common when coming off of an SSRI, but can this occur as a result of being on one ?

Thanks in advance....

Steve

Steve it's never happened to me but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Just a question have you had a regular physical lately. Maybe that doc might have some ideas. I know how badly your feeling suffering. Well I imagine I do. I'm so sorry. Love Phillipa

I've had plenty coming off meds but can't recall having them while still on. Are you taking your dose at the same time every day? I usually try to start an AD at bedtime (my theory is maybe I can sleep through the side effects). If you are taking it at the same time every day, perhaps a call to your doc may be in order.

Hi!

Are you taking any supplements along with your meds? I had zaps while on Zoloft when I was supplementing with Lecithin and some minerals (potassium, magnesium, etc.). Went away when I stopped the Lecithin. Don't know the whys or whats but perhaps it's an interaction with something else?

Just a guess. Be well, jflange

Yes.

At least in my experience -- running and hiking with Luvox and/or with Seroquel on board has consistently produced enough of an effect to have electric shocks. Annoying but harmless, at least for me. Your miles may vary.

I have had the brain zaps and dizziness comming off of effexor. (which I'm doing right now). But also when the pdoc had me on effexor and Serquel.
I had extrem dizziness when he tried me on Geodon and effexor, to the point that I thought I would faint.
