Xanax and Vyvanse?

Posted by Sky Brite Line on May 29, 2008, at 17:38:13

I do have anxiety and concetration problems during the day. My doctor wants to dirastlicly lower my Xanax usage and replace it with something i can function on.

I didnt ask him if taking .5mg of Xanax during Vyvanse was ok......it really would not do anything. I was taking Dexedrine 3 ago and my doctor told me to take .5mg of Klonopin with it. It didnt change it all at much, it gave a smooth, relaxed stimulation.

I rerember back in the day when Dexamyl where really popular for depression (d-amphetamine/amobarbital) mixture. But was discontinued for non medical use.

Thoughts?

Stimulants for depression is a possible untapped idea for me, however I take a considerable amount of benzodiazepines and I'm subject to high anxiety. So basically, benzodiazepines plus stimulants can be a cancellation, like water on fire, because its hard to break through the sedative effect of benzodiazepines. But each person's situation is different.

Actually, I take a stimulant and a benzodiazepine. I have both anxiety and fatigue. Rather than them canceling out, I get the best of both.

That's a good outcome on your case -- I tend not to get the best of both usually, anxiety or depression is treated but not exactly both and one treatment can exacerbate the other direction, etc.

That's too bad that you haven't had better success. How many have you tried? It took a few tries with stimulants for me to find something that worked. Ritalin, for example, was too stimulating, but Focalin is better. Also, have you played around with dosages? It can be a delicate balance to strike. If I take more xanax than I absolutely need (I need tiny amounts), then it does make me drowsy, stimulant or no. But I've gotten a feel for how big a nibble I need and it works out pretty well. Good luck.
