Going on Vyvanse babblers

Posted by your#1fan on February 26, 2008, at 0:00:44

Well,

Wish me luck and PRAY FOR ME. My mother finally said at this point, your really a wreck, i am a wreck, the amount of frequency of incidencies that happen to me. If my mom doesnt see this, she is being like a animal looking at evidence right in her face and still saying "no".

Ok, i dont know if its going to happen, but hey tell me about Vyvanse, what does it do, i know that it is much diffrent than Dexedrine which i was on for 2 years. It works much slower and stays in the system long longer.

The only familiarity i am familiar with is Dexedrine. Which helped me through years, but at the end, it was abused, ill tell you that. But at this point, i sabotogaged myself for 2 years with no help for my ADHD.

Tried strattera at 25mg to 40mg, i thought my brain was on fire! it not suppost to be taken with Prozac. I was much more altered, and alert.

Adderall was even thinking back on makes me want to throw up, that horrible crash it has. UGH i hate it! At one time i thought it was best medication in the world. Today i hate it! I was on Adderall for 10 years folks then 2 years of Dexedrine......Dexedrine was much better than adderall in all way, it was much smoother, there was no "rush", no horrible crash, but i admit, any stimulant has some kind of come down.

Now i need to know about Vyvanse, because i am willing to try it, tell my doctor that at this point, i need help bad with ADHD.

He may start me at 30mg, but see i read that its only equivlant to only 8.888mg of dextroamphetamine, and when i was on Dexedrine, i was 20 X 2 daily. Its going to be hard to work with but AT least there is HOPE!

THERE IS HOPE! for fan! no more losing keys, folder, paperwork, mind.....etc.

But please tell me how it works.

Molecular equivalence -- which is what you're discussing -- is not synonymous with bioequivalence. You may find that 30mg works equally well for you.

With your history, as you've disclosed it here, are you certain that Vyvanse is a safe medication for you? I've suggested in the past that you consider trying Strattera again without the Prozac -- there is a reason it's contraindicated, and you may find that it's a great choice for you with Zoloft or Lexapro. When I took Strattera with Zoloft, I found it pretty wonderful. It's on my list of "well, if this combo doesn't work well enough..." meds, as something I'd try again without (much) fear.

I hope you'll let us know what your doctor has to say about it. When do you see him again? I get the feeling you haven't brought this up with him yet, and I look forward to hearing what he has to say when you do.

Im going tommorow, which is today actually.

By the time you read this im proably already in the pdoc session. Wish me luck, I have wrote my doctor stating very similar things i put here on psychobabble. I was very direct, the troubles i have to endure every day.

I told him my previous medication was Dexedrine 40mg (20 X 2) and this was 2 years ago. Before that i was on Adderall (i hate this medication) the crash it has, the moodiness it causes, more so than dexedrine did. Omg, adderall made my days seems like warp holes going through, i hated the way felt.
What has happened over the years my mental state has deteriated because i havent been treated correctly for ADHD.

Provigil may be considered, and Wellbutrin. But at this urgent time of everything, i have to be on a ADHD to function with out failing. I failed many times before without it.

Racer, i have to tell you something. I do have a problem with food, medications, sometimes smoking, its alot of "non-control" of myself. And even a medication that would help me with some "less impulsiveness" it also itself can be taken over again, and then its a problem itself. I eat sometimes like there is no tommrow, to get me maybe in a better mood, or just that feeling of "satisfation" from food, mainly pizza and hotdogs. Which are bad bad bad, for your health and weight. Also with, if you ever got to know me.....:) i talk like there is no next day....i talk so much, im load, and people find me to be annoying at times. I just talk out my life problems, (which alot of them dont care) and just talk about stuff.

1)Eating
2)Talking
3)Taking Medication as prescibed
4)Making dumb decsions that where logically better than the other one.
5)Socially behind.
6)Unstable emotions at times inside i dont show, but it tears me up.

Wish me absolute luck today, or prayer. That the proper medicaiton will be prescibed, Strattera, Vyvanse, i may go back on Dexedrine but i doubt it.

Thanks.....

I understand that, I really do. See, once upon a time, I was your age, too, and had some issues with impulsiveness regarding various chemicals myself...

When I suggest that maybe stimulants aren't your best bet, I'm making that suggestion because I found that the best way to control my impulses to indulge in those substances was not to be around them. For me, that meant not being around the people I knew who indulged in them. For you, it may be that your best bet is to avoid having them prescribed to you. That doesn't mean don't treat your ADHD, it only means maybe you'd be doing yourself a favor to limit your exposure to substances which might be dangerous for you.

If you and your doctor decide that a stimulant is your best option, perhaps you could enlist someone to help you take it as prescribed? Maybe your mother or another family member could give you your daily dose each day, rather than risking the impulse to take more than prescribed?

And just so that everyone on this board is aware, and in hopes that everyone who reads this can understand my perspective on this -- I'm offering this advice because I worry about you. I worry about you because I care about you. I want to see you feel well, do well, and live well. I'm not trying to be critical, only to make some suggestions which I hope will help keep you safe.

Peace.

I'm not that familiar with the way stimulants are prescribed but isn't there a place you sign for them and only a certain amount can be dispursed at one time depending on the drug I guess. So Fan what did your doc prescribe you seemed to be considering wellbutrin? How did it go?
