I am Bipolar. I have been on Depakote for the past 3 months. My doctor has me on 1000mg. I have yet to have a blood test. I feel great on the dosage that I am taking. Should I consider having a blood test done to see what my depakote level is? I am also taking 100mg of seroquel which does me great. I think the combination is good considering that is has worked for the past 3 months.
Thanks : )

> TwinchThe Depakote monograph has a black box warning of potentially fatal liver damage from this drug, usually arising during the first six months of treatment. Your doctor should have been doing routine liver function tests, and physical examinations, certainly before three months has passed. See: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/dival_wcp.htm
You do need blood tests, but for more than drug levels.
