need advice on a drug induced psychosis by you

Posted by Jeroen on January 5, 2008, at 9:31:03

hi, need advice on a drug induced psychosis by you

the drug is called lamictal and doesnt go away when i quit my anti psychotic drug, in other words i'm f**cked

i think the best thing to do myself is take seroquel high dosage 400 mg for 2 months or 6 months

will it go away or not? (the psychosis)

400 mg of seroquel gives me tachardia for 1 hour, like a pannick attack, but then fades away, i am a zombie at this but i need this i think

putting myself on sertindole might make things worse especially after my bad EKG

i'm very upset of what has happened, i was better witouth meds because i took seroquel 3 years and i felt better until this happened

I don't have an answer, but I'm curious.
How long did you take Lamictal and at what dose?
How long have you been off the Lamictal?
What does your psychosis feel like?
You say you've quit your antipsychotic. Are you refering to Seroquel? And were you on the same dosage of Seroquel you have been on for years when you tried your Seroquel?

I have had my experiences with drugs making me worse (ECT fixed the really bad ones twice, not that you need to do that). I actually have the opposite reaction to these two drugs. I have been on both at different times and together, and figured out that for me it was the Seroquel that was making me worse, more agitation & anxiety rather than calming. Antipsychotics seem to make me psychotic. Funny how the reactions are all so unique.

I would guess the answer depends on how long you have been off Lamictal (if your body will adjust with time). Definitely call your dr. Maybe Zyprexa or a benzo may help.

I'm confused by your post. I can't tell you if you are on lamictal, or you took it and are now off it, if you are taking seroquel or not, or what.

In any case, it doesn't matter...
ZYPREXA.

Mood stabilizer, antipsychotic, antidepressant, sleep aid, fast. Mileage varies of course. But for a lot of people, that's what zyprexa is.

I have no idea of your history with lamictal, only that it doesn't sound good. I have no idea of your history with seroquel, only that it sounds minimally impressive. Try zyprexa as soon as you can get to a phone and call your doctor.

I've been in some horrible places before. Intense panic anxiety. Edge of hell paranoia. A jumping startle response to a mere pindrop. Depression so bad I was to kill myself in the next hour. Bad reaction to some psych med. Normal apprehension of being in a tight crowded social event. Stage fright. Insomnia. Racing heart. Impending doom flowing all over me. Brain on fire. SSRI withdrawal type dysphoric mania. Cannabis withdrawals. Feeling insane and yet being sane enough to realize it at the same time. Each one of those times, zyprexa completely brought me back to solid peaceful reality in about 2 hours. Followed by a great night's sleep. Search the archives and you'll see this is common for zyprexa. Some people get that effect to last several days on a single dose.

Just a thought. When you need quick relief, zyprexa.

do you still take Lamictal?

Do you smoke pot on a regular basis? or other "street drugs"? I am asking because you once said you have taken Extasy with Seroquel ....

Such drugs may be worsening or even causing psychotic symptoms

"during summer 2004 i experienced a psychosis free life, using seroquel 100 mg by accident and e"

So what did you mean with "e" ?

I agree. Get a big bottle of 10mg zyprexa's, and find a dose that works.

Jeroen,

I agree with Bleuberry, Zyprexa has been a God Send to me. I don't take it a lot but just knowing what it does for me is enough to stop me from killing myself.

If I didn't have Zyprexa then I think there would be some justification for me to kill myself because the suffering can be so intense. The Zyprexa can bring immense relief and total bliss.

Denise
