Nardil: Increase dose quickly or slowly???

Posted by tapiocamonk on December 13, 2007, at 3:27:05

Hello,

The Nardil package insert recommends that dosage should be "increased to at least 60mg at a fairly rapid pace consistent with patient tolerance."

My doctor (who has never prescribed Nardil b/f), wants me to start at 15mg/day for two weeks, then go to 30mg/day for another two weeks.

Is my doctor's suggested schedule too slow? Is there some negative effect to moving up the dosage too slowly?

Thanks for your advice!

I did the increase to 60mg asap thing like the inscrutctionds said... at the 3week 1 day point i still felt fairly normal.. as in no side effects except a bit of insomnia... that night the side effects hit so hard that i couldn't get up without fainting.. for the next week i was fainting about 10 times a day and seriously injuring myself.. the hypotension was that bad. I stopped it and this time restarted with 15mg for 3 weeks then 30 mg for 3 weeks. I then went up to 45 but the hypotension restarted however it wasn't as bad as before so i could deal with it.

Both times it worked though in a positive way.. the first time after about 2 weeks on the 60mg.. the second time though it didn't untill a couple days after starting the 45.
