I am on Trivastal(piribedil) which is a pure dopaminergic made by French pharmaceutical giant SERVIER. It is not available in U.S at the moment.
My question is: How long do these dopaminergics take to provoke their real therapeutic effects? Like being on traditional antidepressants, is there a waiting period that lasts for weeks to pull off the maximum benefits?
This is my first week on it. Though some obvious effects on some mental faculties are there, the real therapeutic effect is yet to be attained. I still have tremors, restless legs..
Can anyone help? How long should one have to wait to get fired up on dopaminergics? Leave the issue of the drug (Trivastal) I mentioned. Just answer if you know about any of dopaminergics. Please...

Please...Someone else here was posting recently about Mirapex, which is a dopamine-agonist, and if I remember right, got a significant antidepressant response at about 2 weeks. From what I've read, it seemed like they very likely worked at about the same speed as other antidepressants. You know, maybe 1-8 weeks, with 2 or 3 being kind of a standard.... I'm sure we still need more research to find out for certain, but I don't really know why they'd be much different from the others.

See, I dunno if Trivastal is the right DA agonist for restless legs, due to increased noradrenergic transmission. Trivastal strikes me as more of a daytime stimulant thing. Maybe one of the sedating DA agonists would be better to take at nighttime, before sleeping.
But I don't want to alarm you. It does sound like you've been doing decently with this drug.
I plan to try it myself.

But Trivastal definitely helps with restless legs now. You are right when you state Trivastal is a daytime stimulant. Of course it is. It activates, eliminating anhedonia to a great extent. Moreover it helps me to reduce my intake of Provigil. I used to take Provigil upto 400mg, but now it has been reduced to 200mg daily. The rest of the work is effectively done by Trivastal alone.

Yes. Very decently. I have forgotten the days where I couldn't even find pleasure in any activities. But now, I can focus on even the most boring activities with great interest. I keep watching otherwise boring TV programs very late into the night, not bothering how would I perform next day with little sleep at night. Being on this med with Provigil, I never had a problem getting up too early even after sleeping three or four hours. And soon after getting up, I start to keep going forgetting the fact, I haven't slept well at night. Lack of sleep don't even have a tiniest detrimental effect on the following day, as I have been too productive, with this artificially acquired motivation and strength to keep going smoothly.

Here's one poster's experience with Mirapex. He said he started feeling something after 4 days, albeit he ramped up the dosage very quickly:

I just started Mirapex yesterday too, for severe dysthymia/anhedonia/apathy/anergia (plus movement disorder symptoms: restless legs, bruxism).
I, too, was wondering why it often takes up to a few weeks for a DA agonist's effects to be felt. Shouldn't the DA receptor stimulation be felt relatively quickly? Unless the therapeutic effects have more to do with receptor up/downregulation than with the direct binding/stimulation... I dunno.
I also just started taking Selegiline too. Crossing my fingers hoping one or both will finally do the trick for me.

I tried ropinirole (requip/repreve) which is a sleepy DA for restless leg. It worked great but I couldn't afford it. And titrate up slowly or it WILL make you sick. It only took a couple of days to work and helped with sleep

Can you tell me what dosage of Trivastal you are taking? What is recommeded dosage for ADD/depression? Thanks
