I am soooo frustrated right now. My last ditch effort was the Emsam patch. Worked great for motivation, concentration - it was so so for treatment of depression. Finally had to stop the patch due to terrible neck and shoulder stiffness/pain.
Now I'm back to square one. Can't take SSRIs and mood stabilizers (even Lamictal) depress me.
I'm afraid Parnate would bring back the terrible neck pain and stiffness. And Nardil would make me fat.
I'm wondering why I don't just treat myself with Phentermine or Dexadrine and some Klonopin.
I'm not sure why I can't find a good drug combo.
I thought I could take Abilify - it helps me sleep great - but makes me so hungry and fat - plus not motivation on it at all.
Maybe I should add a diet pill to Abilify for the motivation and concentration aspect - plus it would combat the fatness.
Ugh! So frustrated!

For how long did you try lamictal?

Sheila if you were on EMSAM you must also be depressed as it's for depression. And the stiffness and tightness didn't go away . But did the med work as that could be a clue to what might work like oral seligline? Myself don't know much about that. Phillipa

Shela have you tried cymbalta as it's for pain too. Phillipa and has norepenephrine as well as lesser amount of SSRI. Phillipa

Lamictal made me depressed as well.
I take klonopin and Adderall XR. The Adderall gets me going (I take it for depression) and the klonopin helps my nerves. I wish antidepressants worked for me, but this is the best I can do.
Why not take Provigil with the Abilify?

I think psychostimulant + long-acting benzodiazepine is an excellent combination, if you can find a pdoc who will prescribe it and not flake out on you.
Too bad amineptine isn't very available anymore ...

I've been thinking of asking my doc for this very type of combo. The nardil was great up untill friday when the hypotension started.. i can't get out of bed for more than a minute without blacking out and hitting the ground. My blood pressure has dropped to 70/60 :(
I literally do not have a single AD left that i havn't tried now.

Postural hypotension from Nardil will fade over time, but indeed, it's very much worth looking into augmenting the Nardil with a psychostimulant, or (my idea) transdermal nicotine. At the right, careful dose this can offset hypotension and also further improve mood/attention.
