taking my mood stabilizer....Zyprexa

Posted by eraser on September 5, 2007, at 17:04:08

Hi everyone,

i've been taking zyprexa for about a year now. Its effects are generenally mild, i cant really feel it, expept at 10mg (my doctor once put me on) and it just wow.... zune me out. Most of the day i was just lethargic, mentally.

I am thinking about switching to Lithium. But how long does it last? and what kind of effects does genereally bring? zyprexa just brings some mood stabilizion and a bit of zoning out.

I have heard lithium from another person just worked fine right after she took it.

Thanks for any responses.

Justin

I have been on risperdal 4 mg for the past 7 months. At first I was lethargic and zoned out all the time but that went away. Now I take it at night and it just helps me sleep. I wonder what the comparison is with 10 mg of zyprexa vs. 4mg of risperdal? I am on the highest dosage that janssen pharmaceutical makes.

Oh...

twich thats funny. 10mg in my experince was, it was everything was stable and things....i didnt feel rattled, but at the same time everthing was just, i guess the word is "lame" i did not like this feeling, even though i was calmer and my mood was stabler.

Do you think now docs chose respidal over zyprexa for some reason.

Im fixing to take my nightly Zyprexa to go to bed. But no zyprexa is a good stablizing med for me. I just think i may go to lithium.

Thanks

Justin

Lithium's kind of rough..although zyprexa is too, what with the weight gain and potential tardive dyskinesia. Have you tried any anticonvulsants? If i personally had the choice I'd go for lithium.

Yes,

Zyprexa isnt "rough" its just, mellowing, mentally. I feel just well as i said calm, but my thinking is just slowed down alot. I dont get really excited about things that i think should get excited about.Thank you for telling me that lithium is rough. I may just stay where i am because im stable.

I once was put on Triletal (150mg X 2) daily, i didnt notice much at all. Mainly felt like i just took a sugar pill. I was a bit calm on it. But thanks. I jus think lithium, is just kind of in that class of "hard core" medications. Thats why im hesitant to go and switch.

Thank you for your imput.

Justin
