Unused meds to get rid of.........any1 interested?

Posted by rovers95 on August 5, 2007, at 5:18:47

Hi as i have strived (reasonably succesfully) over the past few months to find the right combo of benzos and AD's for myself, (GP in UK reluctant to prescribe anything that works...........or maybe thats my opinion!!), i have bin left over with a number of meds which are of no benefit to me (mainly because through trial and error i've found the most suitable benzos and other meds for me personally.)

If anyone is interested in ANY one of the meds please contact me through babblemail or at my email address [xxx]

They are;-

100 x Clonazepam - Klonopin (2mg) - as Rivotril by Roche

80 x Xanax - Alprazolam (1mg) - as TAFIL by Pfizer

89 x Pramipexole - Mirapex (1mg)

i also have 1 x 8oz powdered Kona kava root in resealable bag, as well as a 4 oz resealable bag of instant tropical Kona Kava drink. This was imported from Hawaii and reputedly the best Kava available to man.

and finally 90 x 100mg Magnesium L-aspartate vegan tablets.

Sorry if i have offended any babble members by this post, but im sure these meds could be of greatbenefit to others and i dont know how else to get rid off them.

regards

Hi. You need to take them to your pharmacy and ask them to dispose of them for you. You are not allowed to advertise your medicines for sale on here, and if you are in the UK it is a criminal offence under the Medicines Act 1968, and Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and The Drugs Act 2005, either to sell or given them away. I would email admin and ask for your post to be altered.

Despite your good intentions, I recommend following James' excellent advice.

I have always destroyed my unused meds by flushing them down the toilet. Maybe all those flushed meds explain the loopy behavior of the sea lions in SF Bay! (It doesn't explain San Franciscans, however, since our drinking water comes from mountain sources). I'm sure there are environmental reasons not to dispose of meds this way but I've always been more concerned about somebody, perhaps a kid, getting a hold of medication that might be harmful from the trash, remote as that possibility is. On the other hand its not entirely inconceivable. Just last week, I threw out an empty prescription box for EMSAM (in the recycle bin) and a few days later found it laying out in the street, probably dropped there by sloppy trash collectors.

Over a 20 year period, I've only had two doctors bend the rules and ask for my unused meds. One was a psychiatrist and the other a veterinarian. In both cases, they knew me well, the meds were VERY expensive, and the prescriptions barely touched by me. They were able to pass them on to a patient (my meds) and pet owner (my cat's meds) respectively who were in very dire financial circumstances. I'd be surprised if this ever happened again and I wouldn't seek to initiate anything like this.

Don't feel bad about destroying your unused meds. The meds you listed are easily available to those who need them and relatively cheap besides. The rules in place are there to protect everybody concerned - by destroying your meds you are doing your part to keep that system successful.

Wow my pdoc offered me the real xanax . I said no thought it was illegal and how did I know they were really xanax and what conditions they had been under so the pdocs can do this? I know we did it with our dogs but thought it was different. Love Phillipa

Exactly, Phillipa. Its not something I would seek or encourage, though in this case it was a one off, the doctor was an outstanding professional and totally trustworthy, he knew me a number of years by that point, and apparently the recipient was in a very tight bind. I wouldn't have given them to anyone else under any circumstances. It is probable that I hadn't even opened the prescription at that point, but its so many years ago I cannot remember all the details.

The cat's prescription was actually a human heart drug that I was injecting him with twice a day by syringe. The cat did not live very long in spite of it so there was plenty left over. It had to be special ordered by the pharmacy because I needed a bottle rather than individual pre-measured doses in order to measure out cat-sized doses. It was expensive and not covered by insurance, obviously.

Please do not offer medication directly to others here.

These policies have been brought to your attention before, so I'm going to block you from posting and from babblemail now.

But please don't take this personally, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're a bad person.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, please first see the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#illegal
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration.

Thanks,

Bob
