Hi

I think you would have to ask BMS the manufacturer. I once called, I think it is Pfizer who make Lyrica, and I was pronoucing it as in "lyrics", and they were pronoucing it "lie-rika".

I agree with Phillipa. I think it's supposed to be 'boo-spar'.

I thought it was Byu-spar? (nm)

It's "byoo–spar" according to the Guide to Pronunciations for Tobacco Products, Alcohol & Drugs. (http://oas.samhsa.gov/nhsda/2k3FI/appE.htm)

Atarax = at–uh–racks etc.

Is the 'uh' an American thing? Why not at-ah-racks?

I love it when someone just presents the cold, hard facts. I had always heard it "byoo-spar" when I took it.

Except that 'byoo-spar' doesn't follow english pronunciation rules, according to its spelling. (To me it sounds silly anyway you pronounce it.)
