Meds that don't induce mania?

Posted by TrishP on March 14, 2007, at 18:03:19

I can't take Lamitcal (caused terrible reaction - blisters on my gums!).

Are there any other meds that do not cause mania? The ADs (SSRIs bring about mania).

I think the patch (Emsam) induced mania.

I'm going back to Abilify for now.

The only med that helped me for mania was the antipsychotic Zyprexa. Geodon didn't work, nor did Seroquel. But I hated the weight gain from Zyprexa so I'm about to try Topamax. I'll be posting how that goes for me next week. Oh and also I take Rivotril (Clonazepam/Klonopin) which calms me down, don't know if it actually has anti-manic properties. Good luck!

If you are looking for an anti-depressant that doesn't induce mania, MAOIs are your best bet.
