Anxiety States

Posted by johnnyj on March 8, 2007, at 21:15:37

I had this thought today about anxiety while waiting in line at the store and coming close to an anxiety attack.

I have been pretty much off meds for about 5 months or so. I have mostly anxiety/ocd issues but found myself off of drugs becoming sort of numb. No real depression or anxiety per se just not feeling much. If I was sleeping I probably would not have cared but without sleep I will go from one night of 6 hours to only 4 and just feeling more numb when I don't get much sleep.

So I start luvox about two weeks back and have this chest anxiety that I couldn't shake. Tried Klonopin and it still hung around. I punted luvox but I was feeling mentally better, just not physically (actually worse). After being off of luvox for about 5 or 6 days and staying on klonopin I found myself having anxiety that I hadn't had in quite some time. The SLEEP issues persist even on some klonopin.

My theory is this: What if I was numb to most stuff and when taking meds you have to overshoot your normal state and then it settles down? I don't know if this makes much sense but in order to feel better maybe you have to have anxiety to some degree as that is normal.

I don't think I explained this very well but for me there appears to be a "mental anxiety" and a "physical" anxiety. Sometimes that are wrapped up together and sometimes separate.

Can anybody share there experiences and thoughts?

Wish I could help, but I am not sure what you are asking. Do you mind rephasing your question? I do think, if were taking Lexapro two weeks ago, that would likely be effecting you in some manner. Maybe the anxiety you experienced was/is from withdrawal.

I think Ive become numb to klonopin. I only notice it when I withdrawl. 2mg a day, and I still get anxiety attacks. But I'm trying xanax, its supposedly better for panic attacks? I like to take it when I know I'm going to be 'out and about'. So I can plan to not have anxiety. Have you ever tried xanax?
