Posted by chante on February 9, 2007, at 15:10:56

Hi everybody! Need advice ,
Started in oct zoloft 25mg, elevate dose to 50 mg then too tired when back to 25mg and felt good . Me and my DR decided to had Wellbutrin for motivation and lost of libido.
Started wellb 100mg am I like it wellb give me the motivation I need to go to gym and take care of my baby. Feel just good like that.
Except Now I notice this week my joints hurts in morning.. and I worry cause I have tremors with my hands.
I would'nt care of these side effects so much because finally now I'm not depresse anymore and not having the social p. It's only been 2 weeks maybe it's going to go away in a month I don't know??
The problem is I have to go in a school next week and need my dexterity and coordination , I'm a electrologist. I was thinking maybe stopping for my 2 weeks classes and then restart... or take it at night , I won't be able to sleep? and do my work and study I have to give my 100%. So should I stop it and only use zoloft for a while . I'm just worring about the withdraws at the last minute , sorry long message

Don't mess around with depression. If you are feeling better, cherish it and do nothing to disturb it. Do not stop doses, do not change doses, nothing. The hand tremors might subside with time, they might not subside with time, or they may even get worse with time. Doesn't matter. Depression is a lot worse. Too many people find that when they stop a drug that was working or mess with it in some way, it never works the same again. Not always, but often.

Keep the tremors. Say bye bye to depression and be very very happy about that. Shaking fingers is not a bad price to pay. If it interferes with your job, you may find or work on skills to compensate for that.

Thank you so much, I understand because this is the first time in many years I feel great.
I am productive, I've been wanted to start my buisness for years and now I finaly have the confidence in me and feel strong enough to actually try it. (sorry my spelling I'm french).
I will continue the same and maybe take it a little bit earlier in the morning cause now it's about 4pm and I feel less shacky and cut the coffee, lol
thank you all for your inspiration, I always read these post.
My Doc is a little boring I have to change ,she never elaborate or explain me much stuff .
I learn more in this website than when I ask her questions.

So right. I wish I had a dime for every time someone in my support group has said, "I feel great! I don't need this AD!". So they taper off, end up depressed and go back to the med. Guess what? It doesn't work any more and they have a heck of a time finding another one that does; which is NOT fun. By the way, I'm tempted to do the same thing often myself-I have to say, "the reason you feel O.K. is because you've found the right meds-now leave them alone!!!"

I would have to concur, its a hard choice to make -- I in the end chose Seroquel over Zyprexa because of pseudoparkisonism. But depression is often something that you don't realize has been treated until you remove the medication and I don't think you want to do that. Its a personal choice though, so its something you will have to ponder and discuss perhaps some mitigation with your doctor.

The shaky hands can be mitigated to an extent by propranolol (sometimes causes depression in people though, there is also pindolol and nadolol), as well as possibly Artane or procyclidine, possibly Cogentin. A smidge of a benzodiazepine that doesn't give you depression and still allows you to operate machinery may also help such as .25 mg of of Xanax or 10-20mg of Valium.

I agree with Jay, Blueberry and others. If you have something that is working for depression, a horrible debilitating disease then I think you have to weigh the good against the bad and as Jay said there are things that can help with the hand tremors.

I am beginning to look for an a/d now to augment my benzo and am scared as I know I may not find the right combo right away but if I were in your shoes and getting relief, I would not quit it yet.
Just my humble opinon. Best wishes.

If you feel good, i'd try living with a little hand trembling. ALL AD's have side effects, the sooner you accept this fact, the better. Also this SE may disappear w/time. Just be grateful that you feel so much better, and don't change anything..if you do you might not get the beneficial effects back.
