Since my bladder reacts poorly to any of the SSRIs, my doc suggested Cymbalta. Does this effect serotonin?
The nerves in my bladder overact to serotonin, so I don't want to take anything that will bother them.
The only thing I remember the from the short time I tried Cymbalta before was that it gave me a little bit of heatburn (took Nexium) and it stopped me from peeing 40 times a day.
I worry about it giving me urine retention.

Cymbalta affects serotonin and norepinephrine somewhat like effexor. Did you have problems with effexor ?

Cymbalta affects serotonin vs norepinephrine at a rate of 9-to-1. It is mostly serotonin with a little norepinephrine. Whether it would affect your bladder or not, who knows.

"Peeing 40 times a day" I assume is an exxageration because most people go around 1-4 hours typically depending on diet, excercise, and intake of caffeine among other things. I don't get that from the Cymbalta -- Seroquel though does it only in the morning as antihistamines can. If you do have problems with overactive bladder though an anticholinergic is among many things that can slow that problem although there are more modern medications (with presumably modern side effects for that issue.)I wasn't aware that it was 9:1 ratio since actually it seems to help my OCD garbage thoughts which aren't the core of my problem less than being a mildly stimulating antidepressant (which you would figure NE being more prominant.)

My understanding is the balance is more even, nothing like 9-1 ratio!

Well - if serotonin bothers my bladder, it sounds like Wellbutrin may be the way to go.
I love serotonin, but just can't tolerate it.
