PARNATE: PsychoSpiritual intensity

Posted by aeon on November 17, 2006, at 4:28:41

Hi

I'm a bit new here I posted an intro on the alternative board.

Was just wondering if anyone had experienced intense spiritual/spontaneous meditation trippy things with Parnate?

Quite unlike what I thought I do not find it amphetamine like, it calms me to a completely ridiculous level and often throws me into these realms of intense peace and almost (dare I say) bliss. I can only compare it to when long ago I used to meditate heavily and I would experience the same thing, though rarely.

Now though it is happening several times a day... I fear I may soon lose my ability to interact in this world! Though then I surprise myself and am quite happy to go to work, do all the things that need to be done, and take care of family etc.

I've not been on it long and only take 40mgs... I don't know what would happen if I took more probably just explode!

Anyway would love to hear of anyone's experiences. BTW I take a bunch of other stuff too so maybe that contributes? You can see what I take on alternative board under a post "A new feeling..."

Cheers!

It happened to me at 20mg/day after about 48 hours. It went away after about 3 weeks. It was such a feeling of contentment and calmness that I have never felt. I had to quit because I am allergic to it. When I tried it again it had no effect. Nardil on the other hand was brewed in the maw of hell for me. It almost drove me mad(der).

Parnate did squat for me, but Nardil made me a funtional, confident person. Go figure. Marplan also worked well for me the first time (1994) until the drug manufacturer (Roche) decided it didn't make them enough money and stopped making it, thanks alot. That's when I started on the SSRI highway of hell that never ended. 10 years + later I'm still looking for the right road to travel.

I definately think the MAO category, possibly dopamine enhancing drugs that others have had some success on (although not all available in the US) may be other options if necessary.

But I feel best off drugs altogether if I could only figure out how to keep from crashing after a few months. Every time I stop, a few months later it returns. I don't know if the depression is worse than the treatment. That jury is still out...SG

Sort of - when I finally hit a good dosage. It was about 6 wks in, maybe?

It made me feel child-like and happy again. I had forgotten what depression and anxiety even were. That was wonderful.
