Curious about Tianeptine?
It's an interesting medication, not studied as much as some of the others, but unique in some ways. You could try searching the archives for info about it--there must be lots of posts.
A disadvantage is that it's not available in some countries, such as the US, though it's possible that it will become available (for treatment of IBS) in the next two or three years.
In my experience, it is a good antidepressant. Not overly powerful, but it elevates my mood a good bit, helps anxiety, and is far better than other antidepressants in terms of side-effects. I think it very beneficial. It also reduces stomach complaints, though some (not all--I don't, and I'm very sensitive to drugs that interrupt sleep) people have trouble sleeping when taking it. It is generally neither sedative or activating.
It's thought to work by reducing the amount of serotonin available in the brain--precisely the opposite of prozac and the other SSRIs. It would be nice to have more study of it, but it also elevates dopamine levels modestly (and through an unknown mechanism of action) in the nucleus accumbens of the brain. It's a good antidepressant, though it's not for everyone.

It is a perfect drug If It hasn't pooped out. It has worked great for me for 2-3 mounths but after that It pooped out. What did it to me? It made me much stable, not very happy not very sad. My motivation increased and It made me much social. You can try it. Search the forum(especially Sukorno's posts) . This forum is a huge source and I learned it here too...

Yeah I've read about 50% of Sokorno's posts, very interesting. So you like Tianeptine too... Why isn't that drug more popular if it's so good ? 75% doesn't like SSRI much (about 33% hate those) .. it's a shame that it isn't marketed in America ! Hi foreigner, i've just started taking tianeptine, it's day 11. I tapered off prozac a few weeks ago. So far i havent noticed a great deal.. This morning i actually felt a little depressed, which i havent felt in ages. I take Dex, memantine and lamotrigine which used to work great but the effects began to fade. I thought it wise to drop the prozac to prevent any numbing effect it may be having. Did you find Tianeptine less numbing than the ssri's? How long did it take to start working? When it pooped out did you try increasing the dose?? I have social anxiety, ADD (passive type) with atypical depression by the way!
Would very much appreciate any feedback guys.

First of all ýf It is your 11th day and ýf you feel much depressed I don't know what to say. It started working with the first dose for me but I felt the benefits 4th or 5th days. When It pooped out I haven't increased the dose because when I used it nornal dose (3*12.5) I hadn't feeled good and I used ýt 2*12.5mg dose. It has worked much well in that dose. It pooped out on 3th mounth. Same thing had happened before 2-2.5 mounths ago in my the other tianeptine trial. Yes It was much much less numbing than SSRIs for me.
And Marty I know only one tianeptine and Its brand is Stablon. I don't know any other cheap brand that is producing it.
