Made a (Big?) mistake?

Posted by Lindenblüte on November 10, 2006, at 8:17:57

Here's what NOT to do.

decide one day to take an extra 200mg provigil at lunch, see how it works, as per pdoc instructions.

drink 1.5 glasses cabernet with my steak dinner

act silly and giddy and get distracted while taking evening pills

an hour later, still wondering why seroquel 300mg hasn't kicked in yet, I'm of to bed. 1am, heart pounding, nervous about a presentation (in an hour).

sleeping fitfully. not feeling well. hot and cold. twitchy?

This am, I check the medicine box. I flipped it around 180degrees last night. Instead of taking cymbalta 120mg and seroquel before bed, I took my vitamins. F*ck ME.

can't take the seroquel now. I decided to risk it and take the cymbalta, even though I've never taken it in the am.

brilliant. ABSOFRIGGINLUTELY brilliant.

Just in case I wasn't freaked out enough by this presentation. I can now add insomnia, cabernet hangover?, side-effects to the mix. YAY.

people, please send warm thoughts towards me this am. Gonna need it.

:o] <---scaredy smile.

i think waking up was a good sign.

my provigil bottles are plastered with warnings against mixing it with alcohol.

please, no alcohol. remember, the dissertation swap can only work if we're both extant :-)

Hi All,
update- the presentation was good. I didn't get nervous at ALL.

I feel a little intoxicated, a bit discombobulated, but everything is under control.

all in all, perhaps it was okay that I didn't sleep, as I feel awake right now.

TGIF.

It happens. One once said, if you come to hell, keep going, it's the only way out :-)
I must admit that i'm drunk now so don't take this seriously.

Actually I'm sort of surprised you take all the Cymbalta at night as it is typically, but not always a somewhat to (in fewer people than Effexor) greater stimulating medication that is often taken in the daytime.

It happens -- you can be happy that you didn't take 800 at night and then another 800 in the midday of Seroquel instead of your other medication just before having a conversation with one of your good friends on vacation. I was slapping my head inside and wondering if I should order a few more shots of espresso. But I made it back over the highway to where I was staying at nearly 1200-1600mg of Seroquel still in me.

And I did this twice! At home. I was contemplating putting the Seroquel in a box saying DONT TAKE DURING THE DAY. But I haven't done that since so I just chalk it up to absentmindedness and panicky feelings ignoring details. Not to mention I've been on the routine for like 3 years +, so oh well.

Glad to hear you're allright.

Thanks Jay,
my pdoc tells me that taking the cymbalta in the pm allows me to sleep through stomach queasies. Yes, it's activating. Seroquel pretty much knocks me out, though.

my seroquel and provigil pills look nearly identical. I think I would suffer pretty bad if I ever took seroquel in the am, (provigil in the pm pretty much sucks too, which is pretty close to what I experienced last night)

Maybe a Moon and stars on the seroquel container- or put a miniature Jolly Rogers in the container to remind us of the potential for ZZZzzz

glad to hear the vacation is not completely wrecked. Vacation espresso tastes better anyways *grin*

Li congrat!!! But I was always told to take it in the am too. I'm wondering if you could control the nausea if you'd need the providgil? Love Phillipa

Hugs and well wishes from blueberry to you. If it helps at all to talk with someone who has been abolutely frieked out by some medication mistake, well, you are talking to one.

Aww, blueberry, you're the best :)

You sound pretty good- how are you these days?

I have a very kind pdoc who is apparently on the computer all the time, and I sent him and e-mail.

Said that my meds all had half-lives of about a day. Reach steady-state blood concentrations in about 6 half-lives. Missing one dose probably not a big deal, but that I shouldn't make a habit of this.

I have felt pretty crappy all evening, have had no appetite all day long. Not complaining, except that I have this kind of lump in my throat. ugh, and my vision is kind of every so slightly out of resolution around the edges.

Again, though- having slept very little and had a fairly stressful morning, I'm not sure how much of it is meds, how much of it is Li, and there's the other possibility raised by my oldT.

"Li, you may think that you 'forgot' your meds. Think about what the consequences of your 'forgetfulness' are. [in this case, more anxiety about my mind, and my reputation!] I'm not going to draw the connections for you, if you're not ready to consider them, but let's just imagine that *part* of you might have done this on purpose..."

grrr! the part of me that wanted to feel like crap. (the part of me that enjoys sending e-mails to my pdoc?) hmmm, now THERE's a thought.
