BuSpar, weight, and anxiety efficacy?

Posted by halcyondaze on November 4, 2006, at 0:11:43

For those of you who have had experience with BuSpar:

1) Did it cause weight gain? Because of increased appetite, slower metabolism, or both?

2) Did it help your anxiety?

I can honestly say it was weight neutral for me. No gain, no loss.

It did help my anxiety, better than anything else I ever tried. Unfortunately, for me, it also increased my motivation problems. I was having more and more trouble getting started on anything, let alone getting anything done.

But it was miraculously good for anxiety for me.

Hope that helps.

Buspar is weight neutral for me.

I think it has more of an antidepressant than anxiolytic effect, for me.

I gained. I tend to gain on even the least likely offender though, like Wellbutrin. Weird, unexplicable reactions. This is why I stay away from such medications now. But don't base your decision on me. I'm a bit of a medical anomoly at times!

Buspar is known for treating "free floating" anxieites (they sound so fun).
When I took Buspar I was waking up to white flashes before I opened my eyes in the morning. I was in sad shape.
Buspar was helpful but there were 2 problems:
1) the part of my brain that says 'okay you've had enough to eat now' stopped functioning and I gained 30 to 40 pounds (from 120 that was some leap)
2) once my anxieties lessened, the buspar made me too stupid to know to stop taking it

This is the end of the thread.
