EMSAM

Posted by Bob on August 5, 2006, at 16:44:16

This has probably been asked before, but here' goes anyway:

Is it possible to titrate an EMSAM dose by cutting the patch into pieces? What is the smallest possible dose someone can feasibly take by the patch method? The reason I ask is because I have become exquisitively sensitive over the years to even modest changes in meds and doses.

There are a couple of threads on that, and several emsam mega=threads.

one (of several) mega-threads:

It's not hard to cut the patches in half or even smaller.

No, the patches aren't perforated but there are small notches on the patch packets which can aid in folding and creasing the patches in order to cut them into even pieces.

As SFY said, there are notches in the packets, which line up.

Also, I've started using a small (6") ruler to cut off a quarter of the 12 mg patch.
Each patch is a different size. I haven't measured the 6 mg. The 12 mg is a 3" and very easy to cut into parts.

You probably could do the same for the 6mg, if you want to three-quarters of a patch, at some point. Cutting in half by matching up the notches and folding is very easy.

There's hydrocortisone, and also, a tape remover called "Adhesive Tape Remover Pads" which takes off excess glue, etc, that tends to stay on your skin, rather than come off completely. I use both, but find the tape remover essential.
