anxiety...........

Posted by snapper on July 13, 2006, at 21:37:11

why do they not come out with a drug or medicine that has the same effect of a 3 to 4 drink mellow buzz? Nope not talkin about substance abuse but just plain ole' kickin serious anxiety in the butt!! Sad but Alcohol giveth and alcohol taketh away.surely we have the technology from a pharmacological standpoint........but wait no...that would make the "standard" run of the mill SSRI a meanial thing of the past!! It would relagate benzos to the serious purpose of pre-operative usages ...emergency "freak out" sessions and in the phamacopeia for "other " purposes! Do tell. Effexor....Tri-leptal..... Valium and my beloved -long ...too long half lived Ambien Cr in my cocktail. I still do not feel anything life affirming about all this mix. I am of course just rambling and babblin away.
Cheers to all!

We need better chill pills. Who knows what percentage of illness is stress related. We can put a man on the moon but we can't make a non addictive agent that calms people down.

Here, take this SSRI, your anxiety might get 12 times worse before it goes back to exacly where it was origninally, but you will have the sensation that your life is better, just like how when you watch a really scary movie, (or Jerry Springer for that matter), and you feel better about your life even thought nothing has changed about it at all.

Hey Linkadge, my sentiments "exactly"!. God forbid the idea of "big pharma" puttting out a product that would keep people from becoming "sucidally anxious". I concur

Link I've said this a hundred times to people. After being miserable and feeling like you will die with anxiety from the SSRI. You stop it and you feel better you think but it's your baseline. Nice little trick I think. Love Phillipa

alcohol is decent with regards to it's disinhibiting effects after 3 or 4 drinks but the buzz obtained largely depends on the mood of the drinker to begin with. It can also be overwhelming/oversedating as well especially in larger amounts and the effects are fleeting. Personally I think Benzodiazepines are much more effective and certainly safer. My ideal chill pill would probably be something that gives you a mood boost whether your down or not and has a non sedating anxylotic effect . . . . you could probably say something like GHB only with mega improvements - Who knows what the future holds.
