Manic! Emergency...

Posted by TrishP on June 2, 2006, at 14:39:41

I am having terrible mania. That combined with a little PMS has pushed me over the edge.

I have been taking Synthriod for my bad thyroid and 30mg of Cymbalta. I think between the 2 I have gone nuts!

I am currenlty not taking a mood stabilizer. I have stopped birth control pills also. Since I had a terrible, screaming, crying manic episode today, I took a Klonopin.

Questions: Do birth control pills help or hurt bipolar?

Since I have stopped the Cymbalta, I found an old perscription for Trileptal that I am going to get filled and hopefully that will help.

When I take my thyroid medicine I don't get depressed, but if I take an AD with it I get manic.

Will Trileptal help me? Is there anything else I should be looking at?

I have no idea whether it will, or will not help, but I would encourage you to go to "www.crazymeds.org" and be sure you read the section on initiating treatment with it. There is also an excellent discussion of is uses, pro's and con's Good Luck fca

If you take synthroid you're supposed to wait I think 1/2 to an hour before eating or taking anything. Maybe take the birth control pills at bedtime. But maybe your hormones are messes up. Call your OB-GYN and tell them. Love Phillipa
