Hi everyone!
I was wondering if anyone takes more than 20mg q day of Lexapro for depression/anxiety.
I had started another thread about my GP wanting to start Paxil with the Lexapro, however, I would rather just increase the Lexapro instead of adding another med to the mix. I also take ativan prn....

My dose was upped about 5 months after startup at 10 mgs. due to a situation that was "physical" but messed heavily with my emotional status. I've been on 20 mgs. for almost 8 months.

10 mg of Lexapro did nothing for me, so I took 20 mg for a couple of years. When the Lexapro pooped out, I decided to increase the dose to 30 mg. Mistake...side effects went through the roof and I felt much worse. But some people take 80 mg Celexa=40 mg Lexapro, so I guess it might work for some people. Still trying to minimize those meds, I see. ;>}

I took 40mg for 2 yrs. My understanding is that GAD often requires higher doses than depression (I have both). Folks who "just" have panic often can get by with lower doses.
40 seems to be at the high end of lex doses, but I often need a high dose of a med to get an effect. I do think that your idea abt upping the lex is a good one. Is your doc a GP or a pdoc? It sounds like a fairly unusual strategy (not saying that it is a bad one, but I personally think I would feel like you do abt it).
