I don't know so much about Xanax, Tepi, but Valium certainly affects memory badly.

No idea at all about Nardil. Could that be bad for memory?

It's a balance between the effects you want and the ones you don't.

I get severe memory problems with every benzo out there. Of course, this might be because I cant't take benzos without abusing them, so I end up taking huge amounts of them.

i think i know what your experiencing. its called brain fog. if i was you i would go get your thyroid checked. because when i had an underactive thyroid i had the worst memory ever. just like you have explained.

you cant even talk to people anymore because you forget what the hell is being discussed. watch a movie or listen to the newss or anything. you just cant concentrate. but once you start the thyroid replacement your memory returns in a matter of months. it's going to come back completely my doctor reckons.
antidepressant affect your memory yet people dont make the link. they do man they screw with your ability to think. thats what i learn from my own experience and i see it happening to heaps of people on here yet they ant making the link. when i came off aropax. i hit the worst low of my life and thats when my memory completely became damaged. it never was that bad. i got tested a year and a half later and they found my thyroid was ubderactive. only then did my memory becing to recover.

scroll up and read my post man and get your thyroid tested today. now

NARDIL couldnt get.i was suicidal now normal again sparky123 5/27/06

Tep, I had that bad. Names, conversations, etc. One time I had to call someone to remind me how many days were in a year - I just could not access that memory no matter how long I tried. My brain just stopped firing sometimes. Anyway, I started taking DMAE for it, and it helped. After having taken it for a few weeks, it got better. I can tell now when I forget to take it. Its OTC, be sure its high quality, though.

Good luck,

Suzie

I have used valium, Zanax and Ativan. They all resulted in memory loss when they peaked. I now take 2mg day of Klonopin and I dont even know that I am on it. It keeps the anxiety to a minimum and I hae no side effects. A half hour after taking a short acting benzo is like having 4 drinks for me. It not only impaires my memory but can affect my judgement.

Emsam? Oral selegeline, low dose, under the tongue?

It could be thyroid-related.

Hi Tepi

I couldn't take a benzo regularly - I wouldn't be able to remember who I was after a while :S
