hi, this is important, i wanna take seroquel once a day i will take 300 mg 400 mg best at PM but ONLY ONCE

NOT twice daily, maybe 100 mg once daily wasnt good enough and got terrible withdrawal side effects

maybe 400 mg at PM will do the trick but it might just kick me back into the hospital..........

A single seroquel dose can be taken at bedtime for a majority of people suffering from some form of psychosis -- adjusting to PM dosing from AM dosing will require about a 5 fold half life or about 3 days. It doesn't always work for some people though.

If you're moving from 100 + 100 to 400 cold turkey you will get some side effects, that's just how the medication works. Neuroleptics are fast agents and this is not something that will take very long, but its something you should discuss with your doctor and not do on your own.

If I recall you were taking 100 + 100, I'm trying to figure the question here.. did you stop taking the 100 in the morning ? Because you would have "withdrawal" of sorts. Seroquel has a very short half life and I'm glad 100 covered it for 18 days, if you're only taking 100, it isn't even a clinical dose for a lot of people.

Rapid heartbeat and sedation doesn't surprise me -- anything about Seroquel involves sedation and your heartbeat at night can temporarily change as Seroquel lowers the blood pressure, your pulse may rise a bit.

there was a time where i experimented...

i only took 75 mg at PM when i went to bed for a short period 18 days, i felt good

but then the nightmare and withdrawal symptoms started

so if i take 400 mg only at PM is it enough to avoid the withdrawal, and might get cured from my social withdrawal?

im also taking tranxene, when i stop it i feel better with the seroquel

it was insane... im going to up my dose again to 200 pm again, but i will have rapid heartbeat and now at this dosage i dont have much sedation and rapid heartbeat

I think as I said the tranxene may be making you feel depressed. I don't know your official diagnosis but it sounds like a combination of anxiety with psychotic features and an OC spectrum disorder. You may need to find a different benzodiazepine like Valium if you feel you still need one.

As for going up on the Seroquel, again, that should be something you should discuss with your doctor, but for what I am hearing you talk about your condition, somewhere upwards of 400 would probably be more effective, thats generally where most psychosis starts being helped better -- but Seroquel has a very wide dosing range.

The rapid heart beat -- do you know how to take your pulse? Put your finger on the underside of your wrist and count the beats for 15 seconds and multiply by 4. If you cant do this (I can never feel it there really, just touch your left chest instead). That would shed more light on just how rapid the heart beat is. If its more than 90 or 100 or so, something like a small dose of atenolol or a similar beta blocker might be calming. One could use propranolol also and that might help with anxiety, though it does have a tendency to cause depression in some at a higher dose.

Jeroen,

Why do you want to take all your Seroquel in the evening?

How are you finding 25mg Tranxene?

I'm sorry about your weekend. I had an awful weekend too.

I wish I knew your actual diagnosis so I could help you more. Ed I think knows more, you have anxiety or depression with psychotic features?

Antipsychotics work quite fast, but you cant just put them all over the map, you have to take them as your doctor prescribes or ask your doctor if you can take them another way. It is likely that you have moved from AM to PM to AM and PM and back to PM and the amount of Seroquel in your system has been going back and forth. Its nothing that should make you frightened though I can understand it is not pleasant at all, Jeroen.

You may have OCD along with your other diagnosis. This is not uncommon. The Seroquel simply covered your OCD as well as an SSRI could, perhaps.

That's how I'd view it -- why don't you babblemail Ed when he's less busy and he can explain it.
